Keepin' it Hot
Burner Gas Control
M+W Instruments™ offers mass flow meters with a close coupled motorized valve to control flows up to 5000 ln/min air equivalent. Our digital D-6300 Mass Stream™ series is available with several options like a multifunctional display or additional interfaces.
Application requirements:
* Valve should stay in position in case of a power failure
* Flows up to 5000 ln/min air equivalent
* 24 h steady continuous process
* Kv - value up to 4.4
* Pmax = 16 bar (g)
Industrial sectors:
* Glass
* Ceramics
* Metal
* Waste incineration
* Heat treatment
* Burner
In burner control, and similar applications, customers need to maintain the gas supply even in case of complete power failures to avoid expensive oven shutdowns etc.
The valve stays in position in case of a power black out. These applications often do not need high control speed from 'fully closed' to 'fully open' due to 365 days - 24 hour steady continuous process. So the control speed is sufficient in comparison to direct operated valves. These control valves are not shut-off valves and they are not 100% gastight.
Also available as a Mass Flow Meter D-6380 only for mass flow measurement or gas consumption without control function.

Good to Know
Conversion Factors
When sizing and calibrating a thermal mass flow meter or controller, one needs to use a specified fluid as the reference. As the fluid in an application will very often be different from the reference fluid, a conversion factor between the two fluids must be used. Bronkhorst uses Air as our reference gas and Water as our reference liquid.
Bronkhorst developed a unique database, consisting of fluid data of over 600 fluids. Using application software routines various calculations can be made on-line at our internet site www.fluidat.com.
We invite our customers to visit this site for a free registration. Upon receipt of their login details they will be able to calculate conversion factors/tables for Bronkhorst thermal gas & liquid flow meters, calculate Kv-values and orifice sizes for Bronkhorst control valves, calculate the pressure drop across in-line filters and perform calculations relevant to our CEM evaporation system.
