Dissolution Testing Application

SotaxDissolution testing is the test performed on pills and tablets, medical devices, etc to determine the rate at which the coating dissolves.  The method involves passing a solvent over a test sample under controlled flow and temperature conditions, samples are collected at regular intervals and analysed for drug concentration.

A well known medical device manufacturer approached Bronkhorst to help them improve their dissolution testing flow control as well as collection of flow data.  Improper flow through the test system caused delays in release of product which can easily total well over $100k per batch.

A Bronkhorst Coriolis mass flow instrument controlling a pump was identified as the solution to the application needs.  The customer has calculated that the reduction in product released delays alone will pay back their flow control investment in less than 14 months.

Success at SVC TechCon 2011

April 19-20 Bronkhorst USA exhibited at the Society of Vacuum Coaters Tech Con 2011 in Chicago.  There was a great deal of interest in our CEM system.

Who visited us?  We spoke with people who do PVD (physical vapor deposition), CVD (chemical vapor deposition), ALD (atomic layer deposition), and thin film coating.  These applications are in need of gas MFC's, some of which must be metal sealed, pressure controllers, and vapor systems (CEM) all of which are offered by Bronkhorst USA.

It was a pleasure to welcome vacuum industry customers to our booth and have the opportunity to discuss your upcoming application challenges.

Power & Control

Idea

You have one or more mass flow controllers and need to power them and provide a setpoint signal.  How can you do that?

Bronkhorst offers the Digital Single Channel Control Module for use with Thermal Mass Flow Controllers, Pressure Controllers and other transmitters and transducers or, as in master/ slave control systems, in combination with these.

E-7500The Bronkhorst High-Tech E-7000 Series is designed to easily enable the user to program and power one Mass Flow Meter/Controller, Pressure Transducer/Controller or other device. The micro-processor based unit offers great flexibility in indication of tags, fluid names and counter units in combination with measuring and setpoint values, both in percentages or actual units. Furthermore polynomial functions of maximum 8 calibration curves, offering an accuracy of +/- 0.5% off reading plus +/- 0.1% off full scale, can be stored.

E-7300Based on the modular technique of the single channel modules, it is easy to assemble multi channel configurations. This way 3 channels fit into a  half 19" housing and 6 channels fit into a 19" housing, either for rack mount or table top.

For application requiring host control by PC, Bronkhorst offers a module including a RS-232/FLOW-BUS interface or a Profibus-DP/FLOW-BUS interface.
