 Welcome to the Table!
I can't believe that it is Spring already... WOW!!! Here we go again with another busy season. But before I move on I must reflect back to our very busy winter. Not only were we busy training staff, sorting and counting equipment and repairing everything on site, we also traveled to many great and inspiring shows. I am a strong believer that attending these trade shows not only educates your staff but revitalizes them and gives them a greater sense of the industry. To go and be with thousands of special events people from all over the world is a tremendous experience. You learn from them new things and also find that they are up against many of the same struggles we deal with on a daily basis.
In January we traveled to Tampa for The Special Events Show, at which David Price, Filomena Felix and I presented a course, "Four Weddings and a Budget, Chapter 2". The room was fully packed, with many people standing in the back and sitting in the aisle. It was so well received - thank you to both David and Fil. In February we took off to New Orleans for the American Rental Association Show. Many of our operations staff attended, took many of the courses, and sat for the CSEP test. This show was a fabulous learning conference. At the end of February was Event Solutions / Catersource Show in Las Vegas, once again over 5,000 attendees swarmed the educational and trade show opportunities. I had the honor of introducing the featured speakers, Preston Bailey and Andrew Zimmern. What an honor.
Here we go, April 1st is around the corner and we are ready to roll. Thank you all for your support.

On the Move
 2012 Gala Awards

 Places to Go & People to See
The 2012 trade show season was a busy one for us here at Rentals Unlimited. We had strong representation at The Special Event, Eventsolutions & Catersource, and the American Rental Association's The Rental Show. We got to learn about exciting new trends and brush elbows with some of the event inudstry's elite! Here is Larry Green with Preston Bailey and again with Andrew Zimmern. Preston Bailey is a renowned event and wedding designer, and Andrew Zimmern is an award winning TV personality, chef & food writer. _____________________
 Tabletop Competition
We entered the annual tabletop competition this year at The Special Event. While we didn't bring home any prizes this time, we were excited about our design. Here's a little look at what we did for our "Baby Naming" event. The tabletop featured blues, greens, and pinks with duplicating "xx" and "xy" patterns on the napkins and mirage chairs. Baby bottles, burp cloth napkins, and pacifiers accented the design.

Spring has finally arrived and boy am I ready! I have been lucky enough to escape some of the winter doldrums by attending The Special Event Show in Tampa, The Rental Show in New Orleans and Catersource/Event Solutions in Las Vegas. All three were great shows. As I look back on what I took away from all three conferences, I realize since I started in this industry back in 1990, it has grown leaps and bounds. Developing great relationships with other professionals is becoming more and more important. Events have multiple levels of design; from lighting, sound, furniture, flooring, linens, florals to audio visual and much, much, more! I had an opportunity to listen to Preston Bailey speak twice and love his philosophy - only do what you enjoy and do well and hire other experts to help realize your design. You can't be everything for everyone. Rentals Unlimited loves being a team player so you can shine!
Something else that I took from the shows is the range of color trends that were shown. I found this very interesting. In one hand you have very neutral shades of taupes, ivory, creams and champagnes - very soft and romantic. On the other hand there was a lot of bold COLOR like red, but used in monochromatic schemes! The same color was repeated but expressed with different fabrics, textures, lights and other design aspects. I'm looking forward to the upcoming season to see how these trends play out.
