| Letter from the Executive Director |
Greetings! With Domestic Violence Awareness Month now behind us, we have a lot to reflect on. We had two great events: The Purple Ribbon Event where dear friend Geri Lewis-Loper and strong supporter Governor Jack Markell were honored, and a "Call to Men" Roundtable Event the following day, where 50 men were engaged to make a difference in their own lives and their communities. These events brought us some new individual and corporate supporters, who we are glad to welcome aboard!
DVAM is an opportunity each year to raise awareness about the issue of domestic violence. However, unfortunately, this is an issue that affects many of us all throughout the year. Our commitment to you is that we will keep fighting the fight and working with partners, new and old, to end domestic violence in Delaware.
On a sad note, we are saying good-bye and good luck to Paulette Sullivan Moore, who has served as our Policy Director since 2002. She has been offered a tremendous opportunity at our national partner the National Network to End Domestic Violence (NNEDV) in Washington, D.C. as their Vice President of Policy. Our loss is certainly their gain! We are so proud of Paulette and are happy to have yet another strong supporter of our work in the nation's capital.
On a happy final note, we are having our year-end Annual Meeting on December 7th, where we will celebrate successes from the past year and unveil our new Annual Report. See the details on the left- I hope you will join us.
Sincerely, Carol Post Executive Director |

| FAQ: Domestic Violence and Unemployment Benefits |
Question: Am I eligible for unemployment benefits if I quit or get fired from my job because of domestic violence?
Answer: Yes, "an individual who is discharged from work due to circumstances directly resulting from the individual's experience of domestic violence" is eligible to receive unemployment compensation. This new benefit is a result of HB 170, an important piece of legislation passed this year which was sponsored by Representatives Bryon Short and William Oberle and Senator Robert Marshall.
