 | | Senior Noe Nunez has been selected as a Gates Millenium Scholar Finalist! |
Greetings!
I am excited to share with you that Noe Nunez, a senior at Peak Prep, was recently notified that he is a finalist for the Gates Millennium Scholars program!
Each year the Gates Millennium Scholars program selects 1,000 talented students nationwide to receive a renewable scholarship that covers their full unmet financial need at the college or university of their choice. Recipients also receive leadership development; academic support; and graduate school funding for continuing their education in the areas of computer science, education, engineering, library science, mathematics, public health or science.
We are excited to have an Uplift senior continuing in this scholarship competition and look forward to hearing the results in late-April.
Additionally, the class of 2011 has already received more than $12 million in scholarship offers! I'm confident that number will continue to rise as we progress through college application season and that will have lots to celebrate on May 24 when we gather for our Annual College Signing Day celebration at Moody Coliseum.

Anders Fisher, son of deck park donor Richard Fisher, shakes hands with Julian Meza, 5, of Laureate Prep. Julian gave Fisher a drawing of his idea for the park. | Laureate Prep scholars steal the show at The Park announcement
Scholars meet with city leaders and philanthropists
As Laureate Prep continues to build relationships with the downtown community, unique opportunities for its scholars to participate in downtown life sometimes arise. On February 24, kindergarten students from Laureate Prep joined with Dallas leaders at the Hunt Oil Building to commemorate new donations to the Woodall Rogers Park.
Laureate Prep's scholars stole the show with their perfect behavior and adorable actions as they recited the school pledge for a packed room.
The scholars also shared their visions for a great downtown park with former mayor of Dallas Tom Leppert and park donors. Framed artwork from the Laureate Prep scholars served as gifts for the donors recognized at the event.
