
Brain Finding
Recent scientific findings offer new insight on how the brain really learns. For example, we now have a better understanding of how the brain works during the learning process and under what conditions effective learning is most likely to happen.
Two of the most important related findings about learning is that although we share similar brain structures, learning happens differently for different individuals; it can also vary by the type of task and is influenced by many factors.

Learning Tip
The brain is a complex system of connected networks which differ according to each individual's genetic make-up and life experiences, as well as other factors including sleep, physical activity and motivation.
In addition, everyday life issues have the potential to impact learning. For these reasons an individual's learning process cannot be reduced merely to a simple label (i.e., ADHD or dyslexic), nor to a learning style (i.e., visual, spatial or kinesthetic). The truth is we all have both strengths and weaknesses. Many people don't recognize or make the most of their strengths because it is human nature to focus on what doesn't work well for us. Our weaker areas can even hide or undermine our strengths.

CSS Developing Course for High School Students
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
CSS is in the process of developing a course for high school students and college freshman. The semester-long online course is aimed at maximizing a student's ability to understand how s/he learns best. The course offers a systematic, facilitated process by which students are able to identify their specific neurodevelopmental learning strengths and weaknesses, as well as the aspects of health and wellness that serve as bridges or barriers to their achievement.
This course is geared for ALL interested students who wish to better understand how they learn so they can be more successful in school and in life. The knowledge students gain through the course will allow them to be more adaptive by working smarter, not harder across various learning situations.
This course will be offered for high school and college credit. The pilot will be run over different semesters (January-December 2013).  Three courses that are part of CSS' Neurodevelopmental Approach to Teaching degree program offered in partnership with Plymouth State University and Southern New Hampshire's Field-based Graduate Program in Education will be offered this fall in Concord, NH or at CSS' West Lebanon, NH location.

CSS To Offer Courses Online Through Global Classroom

Starting this fall, CSS will be offering courses and additional professional development services through the Global Classroom on-line learning management system. CSS is especially excited to announce its professional development packages that will include various topics educators can explore and receive 1-10 hours towards re-certification. In addition, CSS will be creating video learning tips and other resources for students, parents and teachers.

CSS Partners with Southern New Hampshire University (SNHU)

CSS has created a new partnership with SNHU. Starting this fall CSS will offer its full line of graduate level courses through SNHU while still offering the same courses through Plymouth State University as well.
