Martha Stearns Marshall Month of Preaching  February 2012

Youth Ski RetreatBaptist Women in Ministry invites all Baptist churches to make plans now to have a woman preach on any Sunday in February 2012.

The number of participating churches in the Martha Stearns Marshall Month of Preaching has steadily increased each year since 2007, when 54 churches participated. Last year, 185 churches celebrated God's gifting of women!

Here's how your church can participate:

1) SAVE THE DATE!! Reserve ANY Sunday in February.

2) Invite a woman to preach--ask a member of your church, contact a nearby seminary or Baptist university and inquire about the availability of a student or professor, or ask someone in your community. For ideas, contact Pam Durso.

3) Download the certificate from the BWIM website, print it out, and present it to the preacher on your church's Martha Stearns Marshall Day of Preaching.

4) Order the book, This Is What a Preacher Looks Like: Sermons by Baptist Women in Ministry and present it to the preacher with the certificate.

5) Incorporate the history of Martha Stearns Marshall during your worship service or use the bulletin insert provided by BWIM.

6) Sing the hymn written by Courtney Krueger, written especially for Martha Stearns Marshall Month.

7) Please send your church name, city, state, pastor, the name of your guest preacher, and contact information to Aimee Day. All participating churches and preachers will be listed in the Spring Issue of Vocare, the BWIM newsletter.

Christmas Lessons From a Toddler, Part 2

Last year, you may have remembered me writing about my wonderful little niece Téa, whose innocent questions were a perfect lesson in the meaning of Christmas. Yet again, I was baffled at how her mind worked this Christmas. One day while babysitting, she asked to watch the "Jesus video," which, after a bit of hunting through a stack of DVDs, turned out to be animated stories of Jesus' life.

Supported by First Baptist Church in Dunn  CBFNC's headquarters are not in an office suite in Winston-Salem, but in congregations from the Atlantic in the east to the Appalachians in the west. Congregations like First Baptist Church in Dunn make up who we are. Thank you for your relationship!
