Coordinating Council deliberates 2012 Task Force preliminary report

At the October meeting of the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship Coordinating Council, members of the 2012 Task Force offered a preliminary report and led discussions around the future of the Fellowship community.

During the past year, the Task Force conducted more 100 listening sessions with Fellowship Baptists across the country. Since General Assembly, the Task Force has moved from active listening to narrowing on where the work of members should be focused. The main themes that emerged from these listening sessions were identity, community and ministry.  ... read more.

Missions Request

Summer Mission Program in China

Volunteers for China is seeking Christians who feel guided to go to China to teach oral English for three weeks or more in July-August 2012.  Adults and college students are welcome to apply.  A Medical English program will be available if medical professionals volunteer.  Visit their website for more information.

Clothing Request for Victims of Trafficking

CBF Field Personnel Butch and Nell Green will be partnering informally with Mission Centers of Houston to provide clothing for women who have been taken into police custody while it is determined if they are victims of trafficking. Clothes are needed for these women and girls. Your church, small group, or you as an individual could help by packaging a new small or medium women's sweat suit, a new pair of flip flops and a few pair of new underwear. These will be delivered to the Mission Centers who then distribute them.  The Mission Centers are also in need of plastic and paper bags for their extensive food distribution.  Send all contributions to 1875 Ewing St, Houston, TX 77004.

Disaster Rebuilding Teams are Needed in Raleigh

Thousands of volunteers have helped all across Eastern NC following the April 16 tornadoes. We are in the rebuilding stages in Raleigh and volunteers are needed right now. In the coming weeks we will begin building new homes in Bertie county and additional volunteers will be needed there soon. For more information on how you can be involved go to the Baptists on Mission website.

Building Hope Project Ministry Committee

The Building Hope Project connects volunteer groups with farmworker families to build small chicken coops and greenhouses.  These low-cost structures help families save money and supplement their nutrition. Each building project requires a donation of $600 and requires about 12-15 volunteers for 2 partial work days (usually Saturday-Sunday).  Learn more and sign up at this website

Tree Angels for NC Troops

Wake Forest Baptist Church in Wake Forest is working again this year with the 82nd Airborne Division in Fort Bragg to provide a Christmas tree to families who have a deployed spouse.  As you remember, the cost of a Christmas tree to an enlisted man is a major expenditure.  This is an opportunity for us to exhibit Christ's love and demonstrate your support of those on the forefront of the defense of our freedoms in a real and tangible manner. Cost is $55 and the deadline is November 21st. Should you have further questions or would like to participate, please call the church office at 919-556-5141 or e-mail Dave Shannon.

Baptist Children's Homes of NC -- Thanksgiving Offering
KourriThe offering theme for 2011 is Changed! Just as the Spring's first caterpillar bursts forth from its cocoon to emerge as a beautiful butterfly, children living at Baptist Children's Homes experience a metamorphosis of their own. Christian houseparents nurture boys and girls, many who have never experienced the compassion of a caring adult, and teach them about Jesus. And as children, like Kourri, hear more about His life-changing love, God carefully knits a cocoon around their hearts. Like the caterpillar, when the moment is right, children's hearts and lives are transformed. They are a new creature in Christ. Click here to see and hear Kourri's story.

Personnel Requests
Frequently CBFNC receives requests from churches about placing an ad for filling church positions or staff.  While we do not have a place for these ads in our newsletter, The Gathering, we are willing to publish positions in our e-newsletter. These ads are for non-ministerial staff positions only. However, we do offer a Reference and Referral service with our Ministerial Resources Coordinator, Jack Causey for staff positions.  Please visit our website to learn more about staff placement through CBFNC.  If you would like to place an ad for a non-ministerial staff position in our enewsletter, please contact Sarah Mitchell at SMitchell@cbfnc.org or (888) 822-1944.
