This seminar features Church Planting Consultant Mike Lewis from Hoover, AL. He will provide an introduction to key issues involved in planting a church, including a variety of church planting models, building a core group, finances, legal issues, and more.

Adult Sunday School Teacher Training
CBFNC is happy to partner with the following churches to provide training for teachers of adult classes. Rick Jordan, CBFNC's Church Resources Coordinator, will lead the training, which he promises to be interactive, interesting and insightful. And, maybe entertaining. There will be solid methodology to help new teachers and fresh perspectives to refresh veterans!

Young Leaders' Training
The Center for Congregational Health and CBFNC are offering a Young Leaders' training. Participants are required to attend all three sessions. Session 1 is November 28-December 1, 2011. Session 2 is January 23-26, 2012. Session 3 is March 5-7, 2012.
All sessions will be held at the Family Resource Center on the campus of the Baptist Childrens Homes of North Carolina in Thomasville, NC. Tuition for all three sessions is $800. Single housing and meals for all three sessions is $665. Commuter fee and meals for all three sessions is $245. Click here for more information and to register.

Almost Christian - A Review
I recently read Almost Christian: What the Faith of Our Teenagers Is Telling the American Church by Kenda Creasy Dean, minister and Associate Professor of Youth, Church and Culture at Princeton Theological Seminary. This book is both a dissection and reflection on the findings of the recent National Study of Youth and Religion Survey. Dean outlines several points: most American teens view religion in a positive light but do not think about it often; teens reflect the faith of their parents; most teens do not possess the religious vocabulary to talk about their faith; a small group of teens claim religion is important and they are doing better in a number of areas than most teens; and most teens follow a weak form of faith dubbed "Moralistic Therapeutic Deism" (21). Based on these findings, Dean explains and responds to the data while relating vignettes of certain teens' stories.
