Who says things are slow in January?  It's been one busy week at WKDZ and WHVO, and if the first week of the year is any indication, we are in for a ride in 2011.  We had the opportunity to talk with State Representative John Tilley Monday morning on Hoptown This Morning and Country Club about his plans for this legislative session and his political aspirations.  Larry Stone was on the air with Alan Watts just hours after Titans owner, Bud Adams, announced that Vince Young would not be his quarterback next season.  Country Colgate Showdown Winner, Karla Davis, debuted some of her new songs while On the Air with Carrie and Bill Booth Thursday afternoon.  Our Annie Catron is at Fort Campbell today to welcome home the Rakkasan.  It makes you wonder what's in store for us the other 51 weeks of the year.  Here's hoping that 2011 brings all good things to you and yours.  Our WKDZ/WHVO team is looking forward to super-serving you.

There's been a lot of talk and internet action this week about the sudden deaths of hundreds if not thousands of blackbirds in Arkansas over New Year's weekend. http://www.cnn.com/2011/US/01/04/arkansas.bird.mystery/index.html?hpt=T2

There have also been a lot of questions raised about the possible causes.  Could this be a sign that the New Madrid Fault is waking up?   http://tinyurl.com/37kwqqd

Speaking of blackbirds, in the fall and winter of 1975 Christian County was covered with blackbirds, starlings and grackles to the point of endangering the health of residents and causing issues for aircraft at Fort Campbell.  Battle plans were drawn to combat the enormous swarm and the war was on... Or was it?

Thanks to Mr. Retention, Scott Brown, for remembering this.
