Christian County Jail Bookkeeper To Be Arraigned |
48-year-old Honey Darlene Summers was indicted December 17th and will be arraigned January 19th on 4 counts of theft by unlawful taking over $300 in connection to her years as a bookkeeper at the Christian County Jail. The indictment, which was sealed, became public record after she was served recently by Hopkins County Sheriff's Deputies. No other jail personnel is facing charges because of the missing $39,385. Local Historians Compiling Cadiz Railroad History |
Pennyrile Historian William Turner is partnering with Trigg County History enthusiast Thomas Harper to compile a written history of the Cadiz Railroad. Turner and Harper appeared on the WKDZ Country Club Wednesday to make the announcement, along with the last owner of the Cadiz Railroad Stan White. 3rd Brigade and Rakkasan Commander Discusses Mission |
The commander of the Rakkasans and 3rd Brigade Combat Team from the 101st Airborne Division at Fort Campbell says the troops under his command are seeing progress in Paktika and Khost Provinces. The News Edge was part of a Pentagon briefing Tuesday when Colonel Viet Luong discussed progress during the deployment that is coming to an end early in 2011. (Full Story) |
Trigg County Sheriff Retiring Today After 25 Years |
Trigg County Sheriff Randy Clark says serving the people of Cadiz and Trigg County during the past 25 years has been the highlight of his career as the County's top law enforcement officer. Senator Pendleton Seeking Leadership Position |
3rd District State Senator Joey Pendleton says he feels he has the votes to reclaim the Senate Minority Whip position in the State Senate during next week's organizational session. Pendleton says if elected he will play a vital role in deciding what bills the State Senate will vote on. Senator Pendleton visited with Alan Watts on the Country Club Monday morning to discuss the upcoming session. Legislative Update will air on Boomer Radio 96.5 FM & 100.9 FM each Sunday at 12:06 and 5:06 p.m. once the session begins. (Full Story)

Trigg Board of Education Member Receives Prestigious Award |
Trigg County Board of Education member Sheila Martin was honored with the 2010 Alice Eaves Barns award when she received her Masters Degree in Sociology from the University of Louisville earlier this month. Hopkinsville City Council is ready for its first meeting January 4th thanks to District Judge Jim Adams, who administered the oath of office to the 11 returning members and one new member. Hopkinsville Mayor Dan Kemp was also sworn in for his second term in office. (Full Story) |
Trigg Unemployment Below 10 Percent, With Christian Slightly Above | Trigg County's unemployment rate remained below 10 percent during the month of November, with Christian County's slightly above the 10 percent mark. Statewide unemployment dropped in 68 counties. (Full Story) |
Former Ft. Campbell Security Guard Sues Private Contractor | Former Ft. Campbell security guard, and Coastal International Security employee, Kenneth Callander of Clarksville is suing his former employer for failing to pay a promised $1,500 retention bonus. He is hoping to get class action status in U.S. District Court in Paducah, which would open his lawsuit to include other security guards from Ft. Campbell, Ft. Knox, and posts in Missouri, Kansas and Michigan. (Full Story) |
Bridge Closed In Christian County, Road Closed | Christian County Road officials say Cambry Contracting will be working to replace the bridge on Buck Fork River Road for the next 3 to 4 weeks and during that time the road will be closed. However, anything east of the bridge can be accessed from the Todd County side, known as Gum Grove Road. (Full Story) |
