RE BRANDON CONVENTION

THIS ISSUE WAS ADDRESSED AT THE KELOWNA AGM at the convention but unfortunately, it apparently needs to be addresed one more time, to ALL MEMBERS.
We're so happy that you're all so keen to attend another CJCS Convention! Those who were at the Kelowna event have done a good job spreading the word of how much fun it was. Those who weren't able to attend, we understand you don't want to miss next years event.
The Brandon Manitoba convention is NOT SOLD OUT.
Registration hasn't even opened! Please do not spread such false rumours. It's creating a panic.
In fact, our office has yet to review the final convention information. Furthermore, the date registration will open has not been confirmed yet. I cna tell you it won't be until 2011 - probably early February.
NO ONE will be able to register until their 2011 Crown Jewels of Canada Society membership renewal has been received and processed. (Good reason to get your renewal in early for your chapter!)
Membership renewals are due January 1st and it'll take 4-6 weeks to process all the membership renewals after receipt. Our office will be closed over Christmas so we won't be processing any membership renewals during the holiday season.
I've heard several ladies state that "they had already booked" but they must mean the hotel. I am not sure why they would book before the hotel has even released the Convention "Group Block Convention Number" offering them the discounted convention rate. This information won't be released until convention registration is opened.
Play fair. Don't book your room until it's time and don't book a block of rooms "in case you might need them" Rooms should not be reserved until such time as your registration is sent to the convention committee and only book the actual room(s) you require at that time. Many overbooked rooms for the Kelowna convention which meant those who WERE attending couldn't get a room then close to the convention there were suddenly many rooms "released." Please don't do this. We know you're keen but please play fair and wait until the convention registration information is released. If this becomes a problem with the Brandon convention then in future no hotel information will be released prior to the opening of registration.
Everyone deserves the same opportunity to book for the convention.
