Do you know a woman trying to improve life for herself and her family? If she is enrolled in an undergraduate or vocational skills program, and provides the primary financial support for her family, then we hope she'll apply for the Women's Opportunity Award. This cash award is $1000.

The deadline for applications is February 1st.  We're working to help women to Live Their Dreams!

DAY of SERVICE
February 26

mending kids blanket girl

We're going to craft blankets and put together care packages for little girls struggling with traumatic cardiac surgery!  This will be our second project for Mending Hearts Int'l.  We'll also assemble items for the volunteer medical staff who care for them.

We've been able to celebrate several wonderful contributions to improving the lives of women and girls.  We hope you'll join in the fun as we move forward with more good work!

NOMINATIONS...It's time to nominate our Board of Directors for the 2012-2013 year.  (Just typing 2013 was shocking!)  How about considering a leadership role on the Board or as the Chair of a committee or event?  Pam Ingram is Chairing our nominating committee, and would be delighted to share the responsibilities and needs of each role.  She'll be proposing the slate at the February Business meeting, so she'll need to speak with you soon.  Pam can be reached at pamingram@pamingram.com.

walkNeo-Natal Intensive Care Unit...January 25

We're planning a fun evening on Saturday, January 28th at TPC at 7p (hors d'ouevres and no-host bar).  We've gathered a fun collection of "treasures" for a rousing auction led by our good friend Ed Masterson.

Invite friends who have been asking, "What's a Soroptimist?"  We've got a foursome from Robinson Ranch, a gift cards from Salt Creek and Egg Plantation (so far!)... for one of our welcome guests!  RSVP Pam Oneby pamoneby@gmail.com.

2012 promo card

Chair Shelley Hann has incredible plans underway for Saturday, March 18th at the Hyatt-Valencia!  The event is up on our website www.sigscv.org for sponsorships, tickets, etc.

The show will begin with an exciting array of fashions from White House / Black Market modeled by such community leaders as past-recipients of the Betty Ferguson Foundation Woman of Honor Award.  Handsome gentlemen will strut the runway attired by J. David's Clothiers.  Then we'll be entertained with good comedy in the tradition of a Sunday night supper club.  The evening will close with extravagant styles from award-winning Dan Csicsai of Salon Glo.

The next planning meeting is at Shelley's home on Wednesday, February 15th.  Join in!  There's something rewarding and fun for everyone!

Title Sponsor of the event is Mike Quick of Good Neighbor Pharmacy.  Sponsorships are available including "Head Table" at $3,000, "Best Seat in the House" at $2,000 and "VIP Tables of Ten" at $1,250.  Individual tickets are $80.
