Do you know a woman trying to improve life for herself and her family? If she is enrolled in an undergraduate or vocational skills program, and provides the primary financial support for her family, then we hope she'll apply for the Women's Opportunity Award. This cash award is $1000.
The deadline for applications is February 1st. We're working to help women to Live Their Dreams!
There are a lot of fun and proud moments to share! We wish you and your families every joy of the holiday season...
Please refer to the calendar in the www.sigscv.org for additional important dates for your future planning.
We hope you will schedule all the repeating dates such as luncheons and socials/business meetings. Please make sure to RSVP!
With the celebration of presenting significant proceeds from our fabulous Wine Affair (thank you Chair JoAnn Vindigni, Committee, Sponsors & Volunteers!), we will also pause to learn more about LIVING with breast cancer. Please join us as we learn from Alison Lindemann, owner of WSI Internet Solutions and SIGSCV Charter Member. Her discussion will most certainly be insightful and provocative!
The Wine Affair was fun and hard work for these and so many more committee members and volunteers! Now we can see the results of all that effort!
How many amazing women can Santa Clarita Valley gather in one place?
We have been invited by Judy Penman, Chair, to the annual Zonta / Soroptimist joint dinner. Mark your calendars for the evening of January 25th. We, along with SI-Santa Clarita Valley, will join the Zontians to listen to Sandra Kirkpatrick of Artists United for Social Justice as she discusses the plague of human trafficking. The dinner will take place at the Valencia Hills Clubhouse: further information is forthcoming and will be posted on www.sigscv.org.
Party!
We're planning a fun evening on Saturday, January 28th at TPC. Mark your calendars, invite your spouses and friends. As a fun bonus, we'll sell off those "serendipity" items from the holidays that need a new home! (Serendipity: look that one up, and gather up your goodies!)
We also want to share our stories of our really great work and fun as Soroptimists! Look for further news as the date grows closer. This'll be a great event to which to invite friends who have been asking, "What's a Soroptimist?"
It's Awards Season!
Do you know a young woman between the ages of 14 and 17 who volunteers in the community? Who sees challenges instead of obstacles? If she believes in the power of volunteer action, then she may be eligible for the Soroptimist Violet Richardson Award.
Soroptimist is seeking applicants for their 2012 cash award of $750. Winners at our local club level are eligible to continue, and compete nationally, for additional awards. The deadline for applications is January 15!
Awards Chair Pam Jaffke and her team are canvassing the Valley for worthy recipients! Applicants for the Soroptimist awards programs can download materials and information on www.sigscv.org or reach out to contact@sigscv.org.
