When is the last time you assessed the supervisory skills of your "leaders"?

Greetings!

At times all we think about is tight budgets and where to cut rather than where we might need to improve to do the best we can with less funds to do so.  At times among the first things to go are professional development opportunities at a time when such training is needed more than ever.

This is a challenge to all of you who believe you are too busy and/or funds are too tight to consider how to improve your leadership style individually and among your leadership team.

Keep in mind that there are significant liabilities with ineffective leaders such as potential for charges of harassment, workplace conflict/violence, retaliation, discrimination as a few topics that remain "hot buttons" in the legal arena.

Being that a great deal of my consulting is all about leadership development, coaching and methods of performance management for improvements, I have seen amazing results when an organization is committed to focus in this direction.  After all, if you don't have strong leaders, you will not achieve strong results, it is that simple.

Ensure Employee Relations are in tact...Methods of Effective Coaching/Supervision & Performance Management, Motivating Employees  ...nothing more important in any business or organization Working well together is important no matter what your business

What is performance management?
  • A process that provides an opportunity for the employee and their manager to discuss development goals and jointly create a plan for achieving those goals
  • Identifies business/organization values/goals
  • Set and communicate performance standards
  • Measure results and provide feedback

Simply performance management provides:  role clarification, standards and expectations clear, improved communication and measuring results of your efforts.

Fact:  Most employee complaints center around performance that is NOT evaluated or promised and never occurs.  Despite the fact that many believe "no one" wants these...fact is, they do.

When you do evaluate performance keep in mind:

  • Be objective
  • Ensure equitable treatment of all
  • Judge against clear/objective standards

What is Coaching?

Simply..being an effective "leader"...here are some skills necessary:

  • Getting and giving information
  • Understanding group needs and characteristics
  • Knowing and Understanding group skills, strengths
  • Controlling the group realizing that your style and behavior will directly impact the "personality" of your team
  • Strong problem solver and focus on resolving conflict
  • Evaluate the team members
  • Set the example...YOU are the role model and your behaviors set the bar...People will mirror you!
