How do you Handle HR Risks?
Do you have a system of employee problem solving and complaints that is trusted, objective and responsive? How do you measure the effectiveness of your process?
Consider the following when assessing whether you have an effective in-house process:
- Employee turnover
- Employee complaints to outside agencies
- Worker's compensation claims
- Exit interview input
- Number of complaints received and resolutions attached
- Does the process allow third party alternative?
- Can the complaint be confidential?
- How quick is your response to complaint?
- How thorough is the investigation?
- How well do you communicate results?
- Are employees well aware of this process?
- Is there training on topics related to harassment and other policies that need to be clear to all employees to make them more confident in the management practices?
Once you determine the effectiveness of your HR practices you can begin to make "educated" changes to your approaches. Consider what changes need to be made. 1. Seek out "best practices" to save you time and aggravation, optimizing chances of positive change
2. Determine training needs for supervisors/employees
3. Ensure you have experienced professionals on site or through consulting that can help guide you through implementation of changes that will increase likelihood of positive results
ENGAGE EMPLOYEES...be sure you fully understand what they need!
