Music and More Around Town

Summer is the perfect time to enjoy live outdoor music!  Berkeley County is host to a number of events and festivals throughout the summer ... here are just a few of the upcoming events:

Hillbilly Daylilies will present their annual Bloomin' Bash, a benefit for the Berkeley County Humane Society, on Saturday, July 14 from 9 am to 5 pm.  The day will include activities, food from Big Daddy's BBQ and Rock Hill Creamery, antique tractors and steam engines, chainsaw carving demos from Sawjac Carvings, rock climbing wall from River Riders, children's garden projects, farm animal exhibit, and thousands of beautiful daylilies in bloom!

Live bluegrass music, courtesy of the CVB, will be presented by Stoney Creek, Drymill Road, and Circa Blue.  Gardening workshops include Veggies for Small Spaces, The Modern Iris, Plant This Not That, Raising Cacti & Succulents, and Culinary Herbs & Edible Flowers.

Admission is $10 for adults, $5 for children ages 6-12, and children under 5 are free (no pets, please).  The Bash will be held at 1105 Giles Mill Road in Bunker Hill - click here for directions.

Did Somebody Mention Bluegrass?

 Pickin' Logo

The CVB is busy preparing for our 6th annual Pickin' in the Panhandle, which is less than 60 days away!  This year, Pickin' will be bigger and better than ever with 31 bluegrass and country bands on three stages, the KCBS WV State BBQ Championship, a backyard BBQ cook-off, bluegrass band competition, arts and crafts, Kids Korner, beer garden, camping, and more!

Our lineup includes some great local and regional talent, as well as some nationally touring acts like The Crowe Brothers, Chris Jones & the Night Drivers, Cumberland River, Shane Thomas, Kentucky HeadHunters, Lonesome River Band, Doyle Lawson & Quicksilver, and Colt Prather (... and we're told that Colt will be bringing a special surprise guest to join him on stage!)

Weekend tickets are $60 or $25 for a one day pass.  As always, children ages 12 and under are admitted free!

We still have some space left in our BBQ competitions (both pro and backyard) and in our Arts & Crafts Barn.  Visit our website - www.PanhandlePickin.com for more information.

In addition to being our county's largest tourism event, Pickin' in the Panhandle also helps many local nonprofit organizations, such as Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Eastern Panhandle and the Back Creek Valley Volunteer Fire Company.
