
Explore the history of Martinsburg on Heritage Day, May 12. Immerse yourself in exhibits, tours, demos, vendors, entertainment and activities that will transport you to another time.
Events include:
- 8:30 am - The Adam Stephen Sprint, a run for families from the Adam Stephen House to the new Town Square (register onsite)
- 9:00 am - Dedication of the Town Square with local and state officials
- 10:00 am to 5:00 pm - Heritage Hike, sponsored by the Eastern Panhandle Trailblazers with checkpoints at each historic site. Register at the Town Square the day of the event.
Historic sites that will be open for tours and special events between 10 am and 5 pm include:
Adam Stephen House, Tunnels and Triple Brick Museum
Living history camps, including a French & Indian War camp; Master Gardeners herb sale; ceramic decorating for children; folk paintings inspired by Martinsburg history by Timothy Gasper; and more. Lunch and refreshments for sale by the Lion's Club.

Tours hosted by the William Henshaw Chapter of the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution.
Belle Boyd House
Bob Savitt talking about early baseball leagues in Martinsburg (1 pm); Mike Miller talking about local Baseball Hall of Fame celebrity "Hack" Wilson (2 pm); depression glass display; and more.
Boydville
Clothing exhibit from the 1850s to the 1950s; Chris Cox talking about the War of 1812 (11 am); picnic lunch with Buddy's Bean Soup, cornbread, apple butter, tea and homemade desserts; Heritage Craft Center and Master Gardeners demos; and more.
Caperton Station & Martinsburg Roundhouse
for the kids, by George Children's Museum preview; National Train Day celebration; Civil War living historians; exhibits from Bunker Hill Train Club and Shenandoah Potomac Garden Railway Club; and more.
Sumner-Ramer Heritage Archives
Hosted by Helen and Leonard Harris, Paul Planchon will be on hand to talk about African-American history in Martinsburg and storyteller Viola Johnson will also be onsite.

Free parking will be available at the Caperton Station, in City parking lots and at meters on the streets. Admission to all locations is free, but donations will be accepted. Free trolley service between listed sites from 10 am to 6 pm. Vendors, crafters, and live entertainment throughout the day at the Town Square.
