Member Spotlight
With Valentine's Day just around the corner, it's fitting to highlight Martinsburg's very own chocolate factory. DeFluri's Fine Chocolates
is a family operation that's owned, loved, and tended daily by veteran chocolatiers Brenda and Charlie Casabona. Using pure and natural ingredients in time-perfected recipes, they offer superior fine chocolates ... each a uniquely decorated piece of art.
A testament to their taste and quality, DeFluri's won first place in the Candy and Confection category at the seventh annual America's Food and Beverage Trade Show and Conference in Miami, Florida. Their winning entry was an 18-piece assorted collection of truffles flavored with fine coffee, select liqueurs, champagne, hazelnuts, and berries-all wrapped in a ribboned gold leaf box. Contest entries were submitted by chocolate makers from the United States, Canada, Europe, and South America.
Opened in 1985 in Vienna, Virginia, DeFluri's served as a bakery and chocolate maker. In 1998, they moved to the 12,000 square-foot factory located at 130 North Queen Street, in what used to be McCroy's Five & Dime in the heart of downtown Martinsburg. The building sill features a soda-fountain lunch counter, time-clock with original punchcards, and other vintage memorabilia.
