Enjoy Authors~Books~Conversation 

Celebrate the love of reading at the WV Book Faire on Saturday April 16 at the Martinsburg Mall.  Daytime activities are free and will take place around the gazebo near Bon Ton.  

 

Schedule of Daytime Events
  • 10 am - Children's program with Janet Stoeke, author of the Minerva Louise series; Edgar Allan Poe, as portrayed by George Bartley; Edible Books Contest entries on display; author and vendor booths open for sales and signings until 3 pm  
  • 11 am - Coal mining industry discussion with author David Selby and mining expert Davitt McAteer
  • 12 pm - Discussion with Jack Bass, author of nonfiction about the American South; judging begins for Edible Books Contest
  • 1 pm - Presentation from cookbook author Nathalie Dupree
  • 1:45 pm - Edible Books Contest winners announced
  • 2 pm - Live music from Circa Blue until 3 pm

 

The evening will feature the Authors' Dinner, with authors and political journalists Eleanor Clift and Mort Kondracke as our special guests.  The reception will begin at 6 pm, followed by dinner and a discussion about the current political climate.  Tickets are $30 per seat or $200 for a table of eight and may be purchased at www.WVBooks.org or at the Martinsburg-Berkeley County Convention & Visitors Bureau located at 115 N. Queen Street in downtown Martinsburg.

Share Your Culinary Talents 

Express yourself with food at the second annual Edible Books Contest!  Choose your favorite book and create a piece of art based on a scene, character, or cover.  There are a few simple rules to follow, the main rule being that all artistic mediums must be edible.  Let your imagination and culinary creativity go wild! 

 

Chefs of all ages and abilities are encouraged to participate!  Awards will be presented in three student categories, as well as home chef,
