Celebrate the Love of Books at the WV Book Faire

The fifth annual WV Book Faire will be held on April 16, 2011 at the Martinsburg Mall.  Daytime activities from 10 am to 3 pm will feature a children's program with award-winning author and illustrator Janet Stoeke, an Edible Books Contest with special guest cookbook author Nathalie Dupree, book signings and discussions with nationally-known authors.  Daytime activities are free and will take place around the gazebo near BonTon.  

     

The evening will feature the Author's Dinner, with special guests Eleanor Clift and Mort Kondracke, both national journalists and authors.  The dinner reception will begin at 6 pm, followed by dinner and a discussion about the current political climate.  The dinner will be held in the area across from Hallmark.  Tickets are $30 per seat or $200 for a table of eight.  Dinner tickets may be purchased via www.WVBooks.org or at the Martinsburg-Berkeley County Convention & Visitors Bureau located at 115 N. Queen Street in downtown Martinsburg.

Share Your Ideas at the Tourism Roundtables

The West Virginia Division of Tourism will again host roundtable discussions in each of the nine travel regions throughout the state. This is an opportunity for members of the tourism industry to meet with Division staff, discuss the different projects they are involved in, and provide staff with ideas for new projects in each of the regions. Topics that may be covered include Civil War Marketing, International Marketing, Domestic Marketing, MAPP, Niche Marketing, Film Office, Call Center/Fulfillment and Welcome Centers. The roundtables will start at 2:00 p.m. with 15 minute sessions until 4:30 p.m. No pre-registration is required. Dates and locations are listed below:  

  • March 24:  Mountain Lakes Region - Stonewall Resort, Roanoke
  • March 25:  Northern Panhandle Region - Wheeling, Wesbanco Arena
  • March 29:  Eastern Panhandle Region - Harpers Ferry, Quality Inn

Blue Ridge Community & Technical College
