Jessica Rocks ... Paper Scissors!
Do you have what it takes to be the Rock, Paper, Scissors Champion? Test your skills this Saturday, January 29 at the Extreme Sportsplex in Martinsburg while helping raise money for a great cause. Join Jessica Rocks, an organization that raises money to support Timmy's Fund, at this unique, family-friendly fundraiser.
- Doors open at 11 am for registration
- Food, entertainment, games and more from 11 am to 1 pm
- Tournaments begin at 1 pm
Ages 6-12 will play for the Junior title and a brand new Nintendo DSI with games and accessories. Ages 13 and up will play for a flat screen HDTV. Call for Artists - Juried Exhibit in Martinsburg
The Berkeley Arts Council and The Arts Centre have joined forces to bring a juried art exhibit to The Arts Centre in Martinsburg. The exhibit will be held April 8 - May 1, 2011 in conjunction with the "Art and Earth Celebration" produced by ArtBerkeley, Inc.
At this time, they are seeking artists to submit their work for this juried exhibit, themed "Art and Earth: My Art - My World." Entries should reflect the artist's view of nature, the environment, or reflect an Earth Day related theme. Deadline for entries is February 15, 2011. DC Music Icon to Perform at First Friday Coffeehouse
The First Friday Coffeehouse will feature highly-acclaimed songwriter and multi-talented musician Jon Carroll on Friday, February 4 at the Trinity United Methodist Church Orchard House on Route 45. The show will be preceded by a one-hour open mic where performers do two songs for an appreciative, listening audience. Doors open for social time and open mic sign-up at 7:30 p.m.
Jon Carroll recorded Afternoon Delight, the #1 pop hit in the US on July 4,1976. His group, Starland Vocal Band, went on to be nominated for five Grammy Awards. They recorded four more albums and starred in a network television show before disbanding in the early 80's. Carrollīs music legacy continues to grow with a career that is star-studded and multi-faceted.
