This Week at the Columbus County Community Farmers Market
August 3-8, 2009 |
Dear ,
Welcome to this edition of our Columbus County Community Farmers Market E-newsletter.
Survey Finds Farmers' Markets More Popular as Shoppers Seek to Save Money, Eat Fresher, Live Green
This summer, allrecipes.com, the popular online food site, will have booths at several farmers markets throughout the country to help shoppers match family-friendly meal ideas with farmers' market finds, offering free recipes and guidance.
Allrecipe's recent national survey of home cooks was the impetus for the farmers market tour. The survey found that farmers markets are playing a more important role in Americans' food shopping routines. More than half the 1,400 respondents plan to shop more frequently at farmers markets this year.
According to Allrecipe's survey, more than 86% of respondents claim food bought at farmers markets tastes better, and 41% cite the environmental benefits of buying food grown closer to home as a top priority.
"Allrecipes will participate this summer at farmers markets in Los Angeles, Brooklyn, Washington, D.C., and Seattle, to meet cooks, hear what they're cooking, and help them discover new dish ideas," says Esmee Williams, vice president, brand marketing, allrecipes.com.
