MISSOURI -
We have a sponsor and "we're filling out the forms" is the update on the license plate effort.  Representative and Colonel David Day will be our legislative sponsor.  We anticipate the request will go before the 2011 General Assembly session.

NORTH CAROLINA -
Col. Jim Martin reports that the Kentucky Colonels of North Carolina now has 64 members.  The next dinner by the group is February 12.  For more information
email Col. Martin.

ARKANSAS -
Col. Don Waterworth is interested in exploring a get together of Colonels in Arkansas.

"I am not thinking about a formal association,  just a good old Arkansas Fun Group. Common folk with common interests," he says.

email Col. Waterworth  if you might be interested.

UNITED KINGDOM -

Colonel Stuart Notholt informs us there is a move afoot to get Kentucky Colonels in the mother country together. Colonel Notholt can be reached at this email address.

Thank you for remembering the Good Works Program in your charitable donations.
Colonel :

One of the great things about email is the feedback we get from Colonels on a variety of ideas we can run up the flagpole (pun intended... see story below).  For example, our wildly successful Day on Millionaire's Row evolved from email communications with a group of Colonels.

We indeed appreciate your response to our ideas as well as your own individual ideas.  In both cases, some work and some don't.  In the story below headlined TECH SUPPORT? we are attempting to judge whether to sponsor a seminar of sorts.  Let us know if you are interested.

Colonel Flag now available

Flag2Thanks for the great response to   our question last month concerning development of a new Kentucky Colonels Flag.  It was evident very quickly that a lot of Colonels supported the idea.  As a result, we worked with Oates Flag, a family owned Kentucky company, and they produced the beautiful item shown in the photos.  The flag is 3' x 5', mMember Cardade of outdoor nylon, dyed with acid chemistry ink and ready to look great on your flag pole. The price of the flag is $59 INCLUDING P&H, if shipped to USA addresses.  Actual postage will be charged on shipments outside the USA. You will find the flag listed on the EMPORIUM's New Items page.
TECH SUPPORT?
Here is another idea that we would like gauge interest in.  We have had considerable traffic to the pages on our web site that deal with Estate Planning. PhilanthroCorp, the organization that provides the web site information, offers a telephone seminar on the subject.  It is not a sales pitch... no products are sold.  It is rather an informative 45 minute session that gives you the opportunity to ask questions and get some professional advice on the critical issues of providing for your family, reducing taxes and leaving a legacy.  Each seminar has space for 25 people.  If you would be interested in participating in a call, at no cost or obligation to you, please email Ambassador Glen.  If there is sufficient interest, the Honorable Order will sponsor one or more of these calls. Possible dates for the first seminar are March 23 or 30.  The time would be 7:30 EST / 6:30 CST / 4:30 PST.
"New" Headquarters Hotel (not really...but)

A new restaurant menu that includes the local favorite the "Hot Brown" is one of the positive changes promised by new management at our Headquarters Hotel.  An explanation:  For several years the Honorable Order utilized the Louisville Marriott East Hotel as Headquarters Hotel for our social events.  We still have an agreement providing substantial cost breaks for Colonels at that full service facility; however the hotel has a new name... The Park Inn Louisville East.  Park Inn is part of the Carlson chain which also includes the Radisson brand.  After several meetings with the new management, we feel confident that any service changes will be positive for Colonels who make the hotel their "Kentucky Home" for Colonel Events and other trips to the area. By the way, to obtain the Kentucky Colonel discount you MUST have a form that is provided by Headquarters. Photos of the hotel are below.  You can visit the Park Inn on line at this web site.
