Gersh Academy Newsletter

Dear Parents,

The Gersh Academy at West Hills summer program began with a simple idea that our children would greatly benefit from the life experience, services and amenities offered in a traditional day camp environment. We could never have anticipated the incredible outcomes from one short summer.

The beginning of the summer was exactly as expected. We set the bar high, and our children exceeded our expectations. Whether the challenges were physical or mental each member of the Super Sonics shared their personal strengths through their contributions to our daily activities.

As the summer progressed, I also observed something I did not expect. This group of hesitant, nervous youngsters grew into a team of caring, supportive friends who truly enjoyed spending time together. I consider my experience with the Super Sonics to be a highlight in my 15 year career in Special Education. I will never forget Gersh Academy's first year at West hills Day Camp and the Super Sonics will always hold a very special place in my heart.

Thank you for sharing your incredible children with us this summer. We have already begun developing our Summer Camp programs for next year and look forward to sharing our plans with you.

Sincerely,
Kevin Gersh
President Gersh Academy
Vice President West Hills Day Camp
