Dear Friends,
This month we pass along our thanks to SFPD's Officer Christopher Putz for his invaluable service and contributions to the plight of eradicating graffiti in the City. Thanks Chris, the City is lucky to have you! And the Graffiti Advisory Board will miss your input and dedication. There are plenty of opportunities to get involved and I encourage you to check out all the great volunteer events and programs that the City has to offer. Come to the Clean Team's 2011 inaugural event in Chinatown on February 12th. With your help, it will be a be a fun and meaningful cleanup. This edition highlights that and other opportunities for participation. If you haven't already, please take a minute to Take the Zero Graffiti Pledge and forward to others who may be interested. We are always looking for new members in our cause to keep this great city beautiful and livable.

Graffiti Advisory Board's Officer Christopher Putz Honored |
 On January 25th, SFPD's Officer Christopher Putz received a Special Commendation from the Supervisor Carmen Chu and the Board of Supervisors for his ten-plus years of outstanding service fighting vandalism on the SFPD Graffiti Abatement Unit. Officer Putz is moving on to take another role in the Police Department.
Officer Putz has been the graffiti crime guru and definitive go-to resource for information about holding graffiti vandals accountable. The Graffiti Board has depended on him greatly. His input and ideas, as well as his support of the Board's initiatives, have been key.
The City is fortunate to have Officer Putz. He has been a tremendous asset to the Graffiti Advisory Board. For years, he offered his expertise as a part of the committee. His vast knowledge of the complexities of the issues of vandalism crime in the City has increased the value of the Board's deliberations and San Francisco is unquestionably better off because of his service.

| Clean Team 2011 Kicks Off on February 12th |
 The Community Clean Team continues to serve the City of San Francisco after more than a decade of volunteering! This is the premiere volunteer opportunity to paint out graffiti and help beautify the city. Join Mayor Ed Lee as we volunteer in Districts Two and Three, and c elebrate Chinese New Year and the Year of the Rabbit! During the event three murals will be created to help deter vandalism. We need volunteers to help! Volunteers will also sweep up litter, plant and tend to neighborhood trees, paint out graffiti and help take care of our schools, parks, and community gardens.
It all starts at 9am at the Ping Yuen Housing Development, 838 Pacific Avenue (at Powell).

New Graffiti Watch members joining every week |
 Thank you to all of the new volunteers for coming out for the Graffiti Watch training last week in the Mission. We are grateful to you for volunteering your time to help paint out graffiti vandalism in your neighborhood. With the twelve new volunteers trained, there are now over 300 members all over the city removing graffiti. DPW is happy to partner with each of you, and we look forward to working with you.
Members can access all the paint and supplies needed to abate graffiti by calling 3-1-1. Spruce Up By Sun Up Inspections |
 Quick update on the DPW Spruce Up walks: To date, the team has walked along and reviewed 303 blocks and have identified and cited for 2,819 instances of graffiti on public and private property. 36% of the 7,843 citations written have been graffiti and blight related. The inspections will last through the end of the month. Learn more about the Spruce Up by Sun Up program and look up the scheduled date for when the Spruce Up team will visit a neighborhood near you.

If you witness someone tagging on MUNI, notify the MUNI bus driver immediately and call 911.
