A Special Message from the Executive Director

Preparing for the Future

A Woman's Place, the only domestic violence organization in Bucks County, Pennsylvania, needs your help. The current economic challenges are affecting every person and every organization, and A Woman's Place is not immune. I ask for your support during these hard times.

I understand that a number of people have been and will be affected by the economic downturn. Still, A Woman's Place needs your financial help to sustain its position of excellence and strength.

The bad economy and related increase in unemployment do not cause domestic violence. There is, however, a positive correlation between the two and increases in severity and frequency of domestic violence incidents. At A Woman's Place we are faced at this time with hard decisions that will limit resources and services to victims. These decisions will in turn limit victims' choices and options and create barriers to those who want to leave abusive relationships. At a time when more services are needed, we must work together as a community to ensure that there are not less to give.

Your invaluable contributions make this work possible. Last year A Woman's Place provided counseling to more than 3,500 individuals and their families; educated over 6,000 school age children about healthy relationships; provided emergency shelter to 81 families, including 90 children; trained more than 2,500 medical professionals on how to identify and respond to domestic abuse and violence. All totaled, more than 25,000 lives were touched by A Woman's Place.

During these uncertain economic times, your generous contribution to A Woman's Place is more important than ever. Your support of A Woman's Place provides vital dollars that allow A Woman's Place to provide services to the most vulnerable amongst us. It provides critical funding for direct services to victims of domestic abuse and violence and their children, and ensures our continued commitment to ending domestic abuse and violence in Bucks County.

A Woman's Place remains a valuable and important investment. I ask you to please keep A Woman's Place a top priority in your charitable giving and make a contribution today. Click here to donate online today.

With deepest thanks and gratitude,

Every Dollar Counts at Full Circle
Always Much More Than A Thrift Store

Don't let your gently used women's, men's, and children's clothing and accessories or housewares go to waste. Full Circle, the thrift store benefitting A Woman's Place, is in need of your donations. These donations are given to individuals and families in need who are receiving services from A Woman's Place. Items not given to victims of domestic abuse and violence and their children are sold at reduced prices, generating revenue to support A Woman's Place services throughout Bucks County. One of the finest examples of community partnership, the success of this enterprise depends on the generosity of volunteers and donors like you... so please donate now! Full Circle is located in the Towne Center Shopping Center at the intersection of Route 202 and Sand Road in New Britain, Pa. Donations are accepted at this location during store hours. The Vagina Monologues
Benefiting A Woman's Place

You are invited to a local benefit production of Eve Ensler's The Vagina Monologues in Bucks County, Pa. This moving, yet funny, play is the cornerstone of the V-day Global Campaign. The Vagina Monologues is comprised of a variety of monologues based on interviews with women from around the world. This play is performed worldwide with the goal of educating communities about the violence which occurs against women and girls. Broaching topics that are often taboo, the production breaks the silence and encourages people to finally discuss issues such as abuse and rape. The 2009 V-day Spotlight Campaign is focusing on the women and girls of the Democratic Republic of Congo. Ten percent of the proceeds from every performance around the entire world are donated to support this Spotlight Campaign. The remaining funds will be donated to local charities - Planned Parenthood Association of Bucks County and A Woman's Place, the only domestic violence organization in Bucks County. This benefit performance of The Vagina Monologues will take place on Friday, April 17, 2009 at 7:45 pm and Sunday, April 19, 2009 at 3:00 pm at Westaby Hall (425 Hood Boulevard, Fairless Hills, Pa. 19030). Tickets are $16 at the door, $14 for advanced purchase ($10 for students). Cash or checks will be accepted. For more information, click here.
