Short and Sweet

by Jim Smith

Today's message is short and sweet.  One of the best parts of my job is interfacing with some exceptional people in Davis County.  I sincerely enjoy working with you towards common goals in our community.  I am blessed with a wonderful, dedicated staff in Kerry, Angie, Megan, and Matt - you have no idea how much they accomplish behind the scenes.  The Board that governs us is filled with community-minded people who care about the common good and don't have their own agendas - they are committed to the success of the Chamber for no other reason than what we can offer our neighbors in the business community.

So - please accept my appreciation and my sincere hope that you and yours will enjoy the best of the season.  MERRY CHRISTMAS!

Thanks.  Jim

"Share Your Warmth"

We really appreciate your help and response to our request to donate coats. Thought you might like to know that between our 3 stores in Davis and Weber counties, we collected, cleaned and delivered 720 coats (the number just went up this morning by 70 coats (and that doesn't count 3 bags of miscellaneous clothing items and a blanket)!

Our total of coats collected among our 5 stores was well over 1,300.It has been a big job but very heartwarming as the agencies are delighted for any and all donations this year.

Thanks for your support of the Share Your Warmth program. Happy Holidays to you all.

West Davis Corridor December Update

The Level 1 Screening process has narrowed the preliminary alternatives from 46 to 14. Maps showing the 14 advanced alternatives are now available on the study website at: http://www.udot.utah.gov/westdavis/maps.

The 14 alternatives that passed Level 1 Screening are being carried forward for further consideration in Level 2 Screening, where each alternative will be evaluated on how well it meets the transportation need while minimizing community and environmental impacts. The results of the Level 2 Screening process will be shared online and at public open houses in February 2011. More details to come!

South Layton Interchange Update

TCBY

.

Upcoming Work:

Old Exit 330: The old northbound I-15 off-ramp to Fort Lane is closed and is being obliterated.  The Main St./Fort Lane intersection will become a T-intersection and the traffic signal will remain functional.  New curb, gutter and sidewalk will be installed at the intersection.

Substantial Completion: Although substantial completion has been achieved, several work items will continue through the end of the year.  Most of these activities will be completed on roadway shoulders with minimal traffic impacts.  Remaining items include landscaping, lighting, fencing, traffic signal timing adjustments, sign installation, pavement markings, sections of curb, gutter, sidewalk and other concrete work, general project clean-up and testing of existing features. Layton Parkway, Main Street and all legs of the new interchange are open to the public.

Spring 2011:  Polymer overlay on bridges (I-15 and railroad) and seal coat on southbound I-15 off-ramp
