TCBY
Greetings!
TCBY

I'm In Trouble!

And I need your help to get out of it!

So . . . my daughter decided that it was time to have her baby yesterday - number 10 grandkid, all of them above average.   Everybody is fine and that is the good news.

The bad news is that my wife Carolyn (aka Grandma) is up there helping around the home and taking care of the family until I go and pick her up this weekend.  Which means - I am not going to be in town for this Saturday's "Come As You Aren't" fund raiser for our Women in Business group.  NOT GOOD!

I really had to think about this for a minute - do I want my wife mad at me or a couple hundred of Davis County's finest women?  Historically my wife has forgiven me for dumb things I have done - but this might push her too far.  In the end I am counting on the maternal instincts of our WIB group to forgive me if only for the baby's sake!

My frustration is two fold - this is a VERY FUN event with a lot of energy!  And I am a big believer in the charity they have chosen, The Amber Alert.  I won't repeat myself, I know I have talked about them before.  We are probably the largest supporter of this very worthwhile cause.

So what can you do to help me?  GO TO THE EVENT YOURSELF AND COVER FOR ME!  This year promises to be BIGGER and BETTER than ever - it has been moved to the Davis Conference Center to accommodate the crowd. Check all the details below.

Go have fun, laugh (or scream) at the creative costumes, be generous as you bid on a variety of classy gifts being auctioned - and tell them you are there covering for me and my new grandson.

Thanks.  Jim

  Guest Speaker:
Jan Zisman-MacInnes

"Leader and Employee Conversations"

Jan Zisman joined the Intermountain Healthcare team in April of 2007.  She serves as an Organizational Effectiveness Consultant in the Human Resources family for the Northern, SelectHealth and Primary Children's Regions.  She is also responsible for the organization-wide Gallup employee engagement survey administration.

Prior to coming to Intermountain Healthcare, Jan worked at the University of Oklahoma Medical Center (an HCA facility) for about ten years, serving as Director of Guest Services, which eventually evolved into the Director of Employee Development.  The primary focus in both roles was to develop strategic plans and programs to enhance human resources services and organizational satisfaction survey results (patient, employee, and physician).

Although she would like to say that Intermountain Healthcare was her draw to Utah as it is a great company, it was actually a marriage proposal from her Internet boyfriend of two years.  Stewart and Jan were married in March 2007, in a formal, Scottish ceremony.  The couple reside in Ogden, Utah, where Stew is a real-estate broker specializing in commercial properties.  On 8-8-08, they expanded their family with the birth of a son, Angus "Maximus" MacInnes.  Max-man (so they like to call him) represents the 21st generation of the first-born male being named Angus in the MacInnes family line.

Smile for a Lifetime gives Northern Utah residents something to smile about.

Syracuse, Utah - October 4, 2010 - Recipients of the 2010 orthodontics scholarships, donated by Smile for a Lifetime of Northern Utah, will be announced on October 12, 2010 at 7:00 pm. The board met on Tuesday, September 14th and chose six candidates for free orthodontic treatment.  These candidates will be awarded a scholarship at the October 12 meeting held at Coleman Orthodontics, 780 S 2000 W Bldg E304, Syracuse, Utah.

The ten-member Board of Directors for the local chapter of Smile for a Lifetime reviewed several deserving applicants and chose six candidates for free orthodontic treatment.  The local Board of Directors are Jan Boyington (President), Amy Young (Secretary), Gary Petersen (Treasurer), Dr. Scott Wall, Dr. Jason Hess, Andreya Coleman, Dr. Mark Newey, Dr. Layne Barker, Craig Jacobsen,  and  Lance Call. Dr. Brett R. Coleman is the founder and orthodontic provider for the Smile for a Lifetime of Northern Utah.

Applications for the 2011 scholarships are being accepted now through January 31, 2011.  Applications can be filled out by the individual themselves or a parent/legal guardian.  Counselors, dentists, and teachers can also nominate an individual by a completing an application in their behalf. Applications may be found on the Coleman Orthodontic website, www.colemanortho.com (under the Smile for a Lifetime tab) or at the Syracuse, Utah office of Coleman Orthodontics.

Although the orthodontic scholarships these individuals receive provide complimentary orthodontic treatment, many recipients also require extensive dentistry.  This dental work can be very costly.  If you are interested in helping kids in our community have a "Smile for a Lifetime", donate to this worthy cause by contacting Coleman Orthodontics or Staci Wilson, Executive Director of Smile for a Lifetime of Northern Utah (contact information below).  Together we can give "The Gift of Smiles" and make a difference in the lives of our children.
