| Greetings!
It Just Doesn't Get Any Better Than This!
by Jim Smith
Blue skies, shady trees, a little breeze, lively music, amazing food, lots of happy people - it just doesn't get any better than this! Your Chamber Taste of the Town - North was a smashing success last Saturday, July 24th at the Layton Commons Park. The place was hoppin' from before the 4 PM kick off until some vendors started running out of food around 6:45 PM. So the whole group lined up for dessert at Sugar Daisy or Zeppes or . . . the list goes on!
The credit goes to the amazing committee that put this all together - led by Kym Buttschardt of Rooster's, whose vision and energy gave this event new life last year and REALLY got it in gear this year. Her committee included Whitney England from Bugnappers, Victoria Mecham from Boston's, Shalee Vogt from Costco, Marisa Hernandez from Lagoon, Phil Beck from Zions Bank, and Ralph Johnson from Davis CVB. Indispensable help came from Tashina from Rooster's who also brought one of her teammates from the WSU Women's Basketball Team. We also had a couple of Board Members jump in and man their battle stations - thanks to Shelly Nettesheim from Apple Tree Retirement Village and Chris Williams from the Davis School Dist. And I can't forget our trusted community volunteer (?) my wife Carolyn! She's GREAT! We won't know the final results, but the initial review shows cash receipts up about 52% over last year! Sounds about right, we were busy. I got to interview several people for Cable 17 and I asked each of them what their favorite dish was - and everyone gave a different answer!! That tells me we had a GREAT menu, something for EVERYBODY! If you missed, don't despair - you have one more chance. Our Taste of the Town - South is Wednesday, August 4th in Bountiful. This is part of their Summerfest activity so come down and have fun with us again. See below for details. Stay active in the Chamber! We do a lot for our communities and promote our businesses at the same time. Nothing wrong with having fun while we are at it! The Chamber works because of people like you - and like the committee that put this event together. All of us pulling together make the journey fun and effective! See you in Bountiful. Thanks. Jim
