Great Golf, Cool Weather, Lots of Fun - and an AIR SHOW!

By Jim Smith

It just doesn't get any better than this!  Last Thursday was our Annual Golf Tournament and thanks to you all it was a

great success.  The course at Hubbard was BEAUTIFUL and they even put on an amazing air show all day with F-16's and A-10's coming over frequently!

It was almost a SELL OUT - we had a couple of foursomes that had to cancel at the last minute so we barely missed it.  But it seemed to

me that EVERYONE had fun!  There were just enough spectacular shots to keep people coming back for more!  It was very nice for me to meet
ALL the golfers as they came around to hole #1 - what great people!
And our sponsors were AMAZING!  As people came by the Chamber's tee box they were raving about how much fun the sponsors made each hole -

from chip shots with marshmallows to exploding golf balls to frozen Twinkies to BBQ shrimp to free car washes to . . . well, you get the idea.

IT WAS GREAT FUN thanks to the creativity of our sponsors.  My special thanks to all of you!  Our sponsors included:

America First Credit Union     Zions Bank       Firehouse Car Wash    Roosters

Mountain America      Holy Smoke BBQ         Intermountain McKay Dee Hospital

R & O Construction     Bank of the West        ATK      Davis Area CVB

Costco Wholesale       Western States Lodging          Northwestern Mutual

SOS Staffing    Kane Consulting          Alpine Cleaning & Restoration

Energy Solutions         Davis Hospital             Davis Conference Center

Chevron           Hampton Inn & Holiday Inn Express   Gramoll Construction

Envision Systems         Adecco                        Platinum Ties              Wells Fargo

The committee came through as usual - Lance Eastman was the chair and he had Shirley Bouwhuis,

Mark Livingston, Randy Darrohn and Shawn Kane to help.

I also want to thank our volunteers:
           Shelly Nettesheim-Apple Village Asisted Living
           Julie Batchelor-hometown Values
           Tauna MacPherson-First National Bank
           Whitney Bingham-Bugnappers
           Janet Buckely-Davis County Commissioners

And I cannot overlook mentioning Angie and Kerry from the Chamber team.  You cannot believe how many details there are to organizing and executing a golf tournament!!!  And from my viewpoint it was FLAWLESS!  Great job ladies!  I love working with you!

So, onward and upward!  We are planning on the Taste of the Town events next, on top of a GREAT OPPORTUNITY to have the Governor come up to  address a Chamber luncheon later this month.  Watch for more details on that one!  BIG!!!!

Jim
