Two Things that Belong on Your Calendar
By Jim Smith
Last time you read my invitation to attend the Membership Luncheon on February 18th. We have about 60 signed up now - don't keep waiting! That is 33% sold out already!
This week I want to give you a little "heads up" on two more events that you are going to want to participate in. Better get them on your calendar:
Northern Utah Business and Economic Summit (aka NUBES) - This is one of our long-standing traditions in the Chamber. We sponsor a BIG summit meeting that invites a diverse group of speakers to discuss issues that matter to you TODAY. It is scheduled for Wednesday, March 17th and is held at Weber State University - Davis Campus. It runs from 8 AM to about 3:30 PM and includes a nice lunch. The day is filled from start to finish - you will get your money's worth!
This year we have a great line up, with our keynote speaker being Dell Brown, the president of MonaVie, the company that won 1st Place in the Utah Top 100 Businesses sponsored by Mountain West Capital Network. The award recognizes Utah's high growth companies but measures performance over a five year span so it eliminates any "flash in the pan" performers. He should have an interesting message for entrepreneurs as well as for long-standing, stable businesses.
We will have breakout sessions covering topics such as Women in Business with LeeAnn Linderman of Zions Bank, How to Survive in Today's Economy by Brad Wilson of Destination Homes, a de-brief of the 2010 Legislative Session from a panel of our Davis County legislators, and (of course) a presentation on Davis County's Economic Outlook by Dr Lewis Gale, Chair of the Economics Dept at WSU. Always of interest is the RAPID FIRE segment where representatives of local business resources have five minutes to teach you what you need to know about what they offer. And for a bit of fun have Ron McBride, WSU's Head Football Coach, to share insights with us during lunch.
The cost is $95 per person or $$165 if you come with a friend (which has been the most popular choice in the past). We are charging non-Chamber Members $125/$225 - so encourage your friends to join the Chamber! We are limited to 200 seats in the auditorium at WSU-Davis so please sign up early. Save an additional $10 by signing up by March 1st.
Business To Business Expo (aka B2BExpo) - I won't give you all the details yet, but you need to get this on your calendar. Somehow people are already hearing about this and reserving their
booth - we have openings for 96 booths (various sizes) and we already have 10 of them reserved! And that is before we even told you about them!
The event is scheduled for April 22nd at the Davis Conference Center. You can be an event sponsor for $1000, or be a Premium Sponsor for only $285, or be a Booth Sponsor for just $165. As always, non-Chamber Members will pay more - have them call for details.
What is exciting this year is the way the committee is moving forward to increase traffic for our booth sponsors - that is a major part of the value of the Expo. We have scheduled a VERY HIGH PROFILE, nationally recognized speaker to kick off the event at 2 PM, and then will hold the expo until 7 PM. Watch for more details on this fantastic event - this has just been a "TEASER" and an invitation to save the date.
Thanks for all you are doing to support the Chamber. We are starting off 2010 with an amazing leap forward - and these two events we have scheduled will keep that momentum going! Sign up now! Jim |
