Good Health News
Congratulations to Davis Hospital and Medical Center on the opening of their new $6million TomoTherepy cancer treatment center.  The hospital welcomed the public to the Center's grand opening ceremonies on Thursday, Jan 29 in the Robert F. Bitner Medical Office building in Layton.
The TomoTherapy treatment system involves the use of medical machinery designed to treat cancer patients. It uses a unique CT scanner to deliver radiation from all angles.  The center's staff can direct small, powerful and precise radiation beams to target hard-to-reach tumors. This is the first healing device of this kind in Utah.
Davis Hospital and Medical Center are Executive Circle Chamber members and have a long tradition of support to the Davis community.  The Davis Chamber Board presented Davis Hospital the 2009 Advance Business Prosperity Award at our annual banquet held January 16th.
If you have good news about your business, we'd love to share it with our 840 members.  Send a brief write-up about your innovations, successes, and accomplishments to jpitt@davischamberofcommerce.com.
Have a great week.

Important Notice to all businesses with an 801 Area Code.
Mandatory use of the Area Code for ALL calls begins March 1, 2009.
To ensure a continuing supply of telephone numbers, the Public Service Commission of Utah approved the addition of the 385 area code to the geography served by 801--this is called an area code overlay.  An overlay does not require you to change your telephone number or area code, only the way you dial your calls.
For example, if your area code is 801 and you are dialing another person with an 801 phone number, you will need to dial the area code in order for the call to go through.  You can no longer dial just the seven-digit phone number.
As a business owner you will want to also check: any programmed seven-digit phone numbers in your phones, fax machines,life-safety systems, internet dial-up numbers, security systems, gates, as well as any text or email alert services to be sure they include the area code.
Also check your stationary, websites, and advertising materials, personal or business checks and ID tags to ensure the area code is included.
Jeremy Everts from Stick-it Custom Signs and Graphics also reminded our Leads Luncheon group to check your vehicles, signage and store fronts.  If you currently have your company information on your vehicle, be sure it has the area code listed so your potential clients can still get hold of you.  Jeremy would be happy to help you make the appropriate changes.

Friday Forum

Eliminate debt quickly then invest the money saved over the length of the original pay-off period...and beyond.  That is the secret of turning debt into wealth according to Robert Cosgrove of R D Cosgrove Financial Services.  It may sound easy, but it takes discipline, knowledge, and planning. Those are just three attributes that Cosgrove shared on January 30th with participants in the Davis Chamber's new Friday Forum  series.
Attendees received more than free advice during the hour long training meeting.  Some walked out with a little extra money in their pocket, having traded up $1 for $5 or $10 as they participated in Cosgrove's enlightening demonstrations   about debt management.    Whether they received a few extra dollars or not, everyone in the overflow audience left with a better understanding of how to reduce the cumulative negative effect of business and personal debt.
Join the Chamber on the final Friday of each month as we continue this valuable and practical series on how to build your business in any economic situation.  Our next Friday Forum will feature Sally Taggart of Life Success Rules - February 27th at 9 am at the Davis Chamber training room in the Davis Business Alliance - 450 South Simmons Way in Kaysville.
