Inland Seas Music Festival
July 17, 2010
Celebrating the Great Lakes
The annual Inland Seas Music Festival will take place on Saturday, July 17, 2010 on the waterfront at the Inland Seas Education Center in Suttons Bay.
This year's Festival begins at 9:00am with the 5K Schoolship Run along scenic Lake Michigan. It is only $30 to participate, and there is still time to register. Check out the ISEA website for more information and to register for the run.
The Inland Seas Music Festival will provide live music from several area groups from 10:00am - 5:00pm on the main stage and by the schooner dock. Performances include Song of the Lakes, Handy Billy, Wild Sullys, and Interlochen Ensemble-Brass Quintet.
Throughout the day, activities will be provided for the whole family, including fish painting, boat tours, wetland walks, carp bash, and many more. A variety of food will be provided by local restaurants, and the winners of our raffle will be announced at the end of the day. Head to ISEA's website to to learn more about this event for the entire family. We hope to see you all there!
Northwestern Bank is the lead sponsor of the 2010 ISEA Music Festival. Three additional underwriters have stepped forward to join Northwestern Bank to make the ISEA Festival possible. ISEA thanks the Bonek Agency, Dennis Gartland and Niergarth, and the Suttons Bay Art Festival.

The ISEA float in this year's Leland parade won the Most Artistic Float prize. The float for the Leland Parade was constructed using materials from our 2009 Cherry Festival Royale Parade float. Thanks to the DTE Energy Foundation for these fantastic props. Thanks also to SEECO Contracting for their trailer and Rob Chapman for the use of his vehicle. |

Teachers Participate in the 8th Annual Invasive Species Field Course
The Invasive Species Field Course took place July 12-13, with 25 educators participating. The course has been developed to teach educators and environmental professionals about invasive species in the Great Lakes region, and to prepare them to effectively teach their students, colleagues, and volunteers about invasive species. The course included seminars from environmental professionals, a field trip to the Boardman River Nature Center, and a Schoolship Program on the schooner Inland Seas. Participants had a great time and left feeling prepared to teach others about preventing the introduction and spread of invasive species. Thanks to all the faculty members who helped make this program a success! |
ISEA Nautical Flea Market Saturday, August 7
Join us Saturday morning, August 7 from 8:00am to 11:00am at the Inland Seas Education Center (100 Dame Street, Suttons Bay) for a Nautical Flea Market. There are 3 ways to participate:
1. Donate your excess nautical stuff to ISEA before the event (and get a receipt for your tax return).
2. Bring your nautical treasures to our site before 8:00am on August 7 and set up your own sales table (perhaps you will consider a tax-exempt donation to ISEA after your sales bonanza).
3. Come to the nautical flea market on August 7 and take home some bargain marine hardware, equipment, perhaps even a small boat. We have ground tackle, deck hardware, lights, marine electronics, pumps, models, books, etc.
Call Tom Kelly at 231-271-3077 or e-mail for more information.
If you would like to donate a boat for this event or anytime throughout the year, please contact Ken Cerny by e-mail.
