Help Clean the Beaches in Northwest Michigan
ISEA is looking for Beach Cleanup volunteers to remove trash from the shoreline of the Great Lakes and inland waterways from Saturday April 18 through Sunday May 10, 2009. Over the last 20 years ISEA has organized spring Beach Cleanup events that keep the shoreline of rivers, lakes, and streams clean in Manistee, Benzie, Leelanau, Grand Traverse, Antrim, Kalkaska, and Charlevoix counties.
This spring, ISEA and the Grand Traverse Bay Underwater Preserve are also doing their part to help keep the waters of the Great Lakes clean. An underwater cleanup is scheduled Saturday May 9 from 10:00am - 2:00pm at the ISEA dock in Suttons Bay. If you are interested in participating in the underwater cleanup, please contact ISEA Education Director Christine Crissman by e-mail or phone at 231-271-3077. Volunteers are also needed on shore assist the divers.
