The NAMI NC staff is pleased to bring our affiliates this edition of Nonprofit Management Tips and Tools for NAMI Affiliats. Tips and Tools is dedicated to timely topics to help you in the important work of running a mission-based nonprofit at the affiliate level. We hope to get out targeted emails to affiliate leadership 5-6 times/year. Please share these with your full board.

Getting to Know the NAMI Website
We get bombarded with so much information on a daily basis. And with the internet, there are so many resoruces, that sometimes we forget to look in the easiest places for information.
The NAMI North Carolina and NAMI websites host a variety of materials, resources, tip, tooks, descriptions, etc. for consumers, family members, and affiliate leaders.
So here is a quick run down

2. Support and Programs
- Center for Excellence
- State and Local NAMIs - the addresses, phone numbers, email addresses, and names of current leaders and contacts for all NAMI state organizations and NAMI affiliates (please contact membership services at 703-524-7600, or memberservices@nami.org, if your contact information changes)
- Education, Training and Peer Support Center
- Consumer Support- NAMI empowers and educates mental health consumers to address their issues around care, treatment, services, mutual support and consumer rights.
- Child and Adolescent Action Center- Families know all too well that the system is failing children and adolescents with mental illnesses. NAMI created the Child & Adolescent Action Center in response to this crisis, to focus attention on systems reform and to help and support families.
- NAMI on Campus - NAMI on Campus is a network of student-led mental health awareness, education, and advocacy groups tailored to the needs of individual college communities.
- Multicultural Action Center - The Multicultural Action Center focuses attention on system reform to eliminate disparities in mental health care for diverse communities and cultural competence in treatment and support for all who are affected by serious mental illness.
- NAMI Legal Center - The NAMI Legal Center provides lawyer referrals as a service to our members and the general public.
- Veterans Resource Center - NAMI is proud to provide the following resources for veterans and active duty military members, as well as their families, friends, and advocates.
- Missing Persons Support - Resources and support for locating missing persons with mental illness.
- For Providers - To help mental health professionals assist consumers and families further, NAMI has created this section of the NAMI Web site especially for you.
- Information Helpline - Trained volunteers provide information, referrals, and support to all who have questions about or are affected by serious mental illness. Call 1-800-950-NAMI.
- Microsites - The microsite program is a do-it-yourself opportunity that allows NAMI states and affiliates to quickly set-up and easily manage their own Web sites. NAMI National provides the site template, hosting, and access management, and the site is yours to manage and update.
- Newsroom - Press Releases
- Legislative Action Center - Legislative Alerts and Updates
- NAMI State Advocacy - Variety of tools and resources tailored for NAMI Leaders at: www.nami.org/stateadvocacy
- NAMI Communications - This section includes information on NAMI identity and branding, electronic newsletters, templates, guides, guidelines, and graphics made available by NAMI.
- Templates, information on logos and names, and instructions on how to use it.
- NAMI Advocate
- Friday Facts - a weekly newsletter exclusively for NAMI members, leaders and staff. It includes important news, announcements, upcoming events, grant information, resource listings and more, to keep everyone in the NAMI movement connected.
- Please log into NAMI website, www.nami.org/subscribe, then enter your user name and password, go to MySubscriptions tab, and put a check mark next to Friday Facts or any other newsletters listed. To change your user name, password or email address to which the electronic newsletters are sent, please click on the MyProfile tab. Please feel free to contact NAMI Web Team at: webmaster@nami.org if you need further assistance with this matter.
- NAMI Walks - Raising money and awareness program
- On line Communities - To join or visit discussion group
- Become a member- NAMI E-Join is an online membership initiative in addition to the traditional membership route via NAMI's grassroots affiliate network. NAMI national does NOT retain any of the dues collected through the E-Join initiative; all dues are forwarded to the appropriate NAMI state organization which, in turn, forward funds to the appropriate affiliate. Membership dues funds are mailed quarterly.
