HBAGTA PARTNERS WITH SAM'S CLUB FOR MEMBER SAVINGS

Greetings!
Spring officially arrived late last week. However, the wily weatherman actually provided a preview of all four seasons instead! For those who remained in northern Michigan over the recent school spring break, you undoubtedly experienced warmer temperatures than many who paid to travel to warmer climes! Guess the Grand Traverse region won the weather lottery so to speak.
Yet regardless of what the thermometer reads, it is spring and a brand new season of opportunity awaits us. New projects are "blossoming" in our region and there is a buzz of optimism in the air. Brighter days are ahead!
Let's celebrate this hopeful season together at our next General Membership meeting, Monday April 9th at Morse Moving and Storage The Builder Forum at 4:30 p.m. will feature a round table discussion between contractors, bankers and appraisers. Veteran builder, Kendall Smith, will facilitate the Q&A. Bob Reamer, a well respected area appraiser will join several mortgage and construction loan specialists that evening to explore the challenges contractors face in today's post-recession economy. If you're concerned about depressed home values, short sales, lack of realistic comps, and burdensome code enhancements, please join us and weigh in on these timely topics. Help educate the "experts" and learn some new things yourself.
To register for the meeting April 9th, CLICK HERE. As a courtesy to our hosts, please make your reservation prior to April 6th.
Hope to see you there.

INSURANCE TIPS FROM MAHB
As Chair of the Insurance Committee for MAHB, I thought it would be a good idea to remind builder members about making sure their subcontractors are properly insured. As a Contractor there are a few things you should require of all your subcontractors. They should:
1. have insurance with proper limits;
2. name you as an additional insured;
3. have proper endorsements to protect you when the work is completed
