Bloomfield Hills Builder Robert R. Jones to Serve as 2010 Board Chairman of the National Association of Home Builders

| Greetings! ,

The Grand Traverse region has much to be proud of. Not only is it a desirable location in which to live and work, but the nature of the collaborative ventures devised by community-minded folks continue to inspire me.
One of the most significant of these ventures, Grand Traverse Green 2010, is slated to take place this weekend at the Hagerty Center. This first-of-its-kind event has been planned by leaders of the Grand Traverse Green Committee of the HBA, partnering with affiliates from TAAR, Michigan Green Consortium and NMC. One primary objective is to educate homeowners and industry professionals on the value of green building and design. However, this two-day seminar will offer important information that goes well beyond the layman's perception of green and get to the heart of sustainability, resource conservation and energy efficiency.
The Grand Traverse region has become a recognized national leader in the green building movement. Recent anecdotal data from as far away as the University of Oregon has cited Traverse City being the primary leader in green education in the country. We have learned that the initiatives undertaken here and the passion and persistence of our building professionals puts us ahead of even progressive green cities such as Portland and San Francisco.
As a member or friend of the HBA, we do hope that you will consider attending this landmark conference this weekend. Admission is $5 at the door for the Friday program and will include refreshments, 37 vendor displays and a keynote presentation by Steve Hamstra, Executive VP of GMB Architects-Engineers. Saturday's venue includes workshops by industry specialists and extensive vendor exhibits. The full conference that includes both days is $49. For more information or to register: www.hbagta.com.
Together, we are building a stronger association!

On February 9th, join us for:
The Secrets to Building a Booming Remodeling Business
It's not news to anyone that we're in the midst of an economic recession, but as a Remodeling or Home Improvement business owner, what are you doing to ensure you can ride out the storm and come out stronger than before? While there is more security in being self employed than being at the mercy of an employer handing out "pink slips", there's work to be done if you want to succeed in this economic downturn. It is possible to bring your business to the next level. All you need is a marketing & sales system that will deliver consistent results in good times and in bad.

CONTINUTING COMPETENCE REQUIREMENTS STILL "UP IN THE AIR"! |
|
|
|
For those whose Residential Builder licenses or Maintenance and Alteration licenses are expiring this May, be aware that the State of Michigan has still not promulgated the rules that stipulate the exact details of the continuing competency requirements.
Be assured that your association will continue to monitor this situation and let our membership know when things change. The good news, at least for now, is that there is no coursework currently approved. |
