Kevin Ellis of East Bay Builders SOLD his Parade Home (#3) during the Parade!
| | |
|
Greetings! ,
Thanks to all of you who participated in our 20th Anniversary Parade of Homes which concluded last Sunday. From all the buzz, it appears that this event was an outstanding success! There were so many positive comments from the attendees, builders, suppliers and non-profit hosts about the fabulous homes on display. We are grateful to everyone who contributed. A special thanks to our dedicated Parade of Homes Committee members who did a great deal of behind-the- scenes work: Chairperson, Chad Craker, Non-Profit Coordinator, Angie Glynn and staff liaison, Kerry Gartland, along with Sheila Lowe, Dave Triplett, Gary Barker, Gail Chambers, Mike Bartkowiak, Junior VanDyke, Kris Arnold, Rebecca Whitehead, Sharon Starks, Ryan Brown and George Prewitt. We are grateful to them for placing the signs along the route and ensuring that all the Parade homes were stocked with the appropriate materials provided by the HBA. On July 14th, a post-Parade Awards party will be held at The Crown Golf Club from 5:00-7:00 p.m. There the winners of the prestigious People's Choice will be announced. In addition, awards will be presented in each of the following categories: Master Suite, Interior Design, Kitchen, Exterior Design and Appeal, Craftsmanship, Judges Choice and Green Building. If you contributed to one of the Parade homes in some capacity and would like to attend this celebration, please contact the builder of that home so that he or she may include you on their guest list. The deadline for reservations is July 9th. Please have a safe and relaxing 4th! Remember, the HBA office will be closed on Friday, July 3rd for the Independence Day holiday. Together we are building a stronger Association.

How To Get Paid Even If The General Contractor Goes Bankrupt
By Rob Whims, Smith & Johnson Attorneys, HBAGTA 1st VP
It is not news to those of us in Michigan that the economy has been limping along. Now the nation knows what most Michiganders have been going through these last few years. The building industry had held up rather well despite the economic blues, but this year the economy seemed to have had a significant impact on our fellow contractors. I write this article with the thought that while we all need to maintain a positive attitude, we also need "tools" in our toolbox to deal with the realities of these economic times. READ MORE>> |
