MEET
MIKE FARRER, HBAGTA TREASURER
TRAVERSE AREA TITLE SERVICE, INC |

|
Mike has been examining title in the Grand Traverse Area since 1983. He has been a licensed title insurance agent since March 8, 1978. Mike started in the title business in 1973 under his fathers mentorship in South Western Michigan. Currently, Mike is serving in his seventh year as Treasurer and on the Board of Directors of the Home Builders Association of the Grand Traverse Area. Mike has lectured at and served on several committees of the Michigan Land Title Association. He has handled such construction projects as the many phases of the Grand Traverse Resort in Acme, Grand Traverse Mall, Grand Traverse Crossings and countless residential closings from remodels to million dollar homes. He has closed shopping centers, conservancy
easements, large commercial offices and even the original purchase of Building 50 from the State of Michigan.

The weather was nearly perfect, the course just enough of a challenge to keep all golfers on their toes, and the Crown staff enthusiastically anticipated the needs of the twenty foursomes that participated in this year's HBAGTA Annual Golf outing. The feedback we've received from our golfers and guests has been excellent. Kudos to Kerry Gartland, staff chair of this event for her hard work and dedication at this her first "go" with such an event. And appreciation to staff members Jenny Hanrahan and Judy Gowan for their commitment to the success of this venture as well. I want to express further appreciation to our major sponsors: Bill Marsh for his team's cash back test drive program that brought our association some extra revenue and to Rusty Ackerman and his crew from Holton's Tri-Gas of Benzie for donating two grills for prizes as well as providing the terrific hotdogs throughout the event. They were wonderful! (I'm not a fan of hotdogs as a rule, but these from Paradise Meats were fabulous and I wolfed down three myself!)

Once again we want to recognize Jim Carey for his part in "Beat the Pro". It looks like he had a bit more competition this year - congrats to those outstanding golfers who actually won some money from him. Also, appreciation to Emma Hanrahan who assisted us on the new betting hole this year.
With this fun event behind us, we now look ahead to the exciting kick off to this year's Parade of Homes. Please be looking for our Parade insert in this Saturday's Record Eagle. This two-sided flyer will be informing some 26,000 newspaper subscribers where they can get tickets and plan books for this our 20th anniversary event. Also, be listening to the airwaves and your local TV stations for news and info about the Parade and well as a new TV commercial I filmed that tells the public about our special members and the value of our association. The first person who sees it on the air and emails me, telling me where and when they saw it and the essence of the message will win a $25 gift card compliments of yours truly! So be on the lookout and let me know what you think! As always, together, we are building a stronger association.

 Thanks to the generosity of the Bill Marsh Auto Group, the Home Builders Association had the opportunity to raise some non-dues revenue and have the opportunity to offer an awesome prize for a Hole-In-One!
The HBAGTA received $5 for each person who took the time to test drive a Hyundai vehicle on Friday before the golf outing. Over 30 of our guests participated!
While nobody scored a Hole-In-One, all of the golfers had the opportunity to check out the car that they could have won. Thank you to Eric Palmer, Traverse Repro, (pictured) for volunteering his time to supervise this hole during the golf outing!
