Greetings! ,
As Memorial Day approaches, I hope that you will take time to reflect on what really matters most in these challenging times - family, friends and freedom! We are especially grateful to you for being proponents of the housing industry and for continuing to support the professional standards of this great association. May you have a relaxing and enjoyable holiday weekend! Our office will be closed on Monday, May 25th so that our staff may also be able to enjoy some special time with those they cherish. As we slide into the first week in June, the Parade of Homes Committee and the HBA staff will be making the final sprint to complete all the details of our 20th Anniversary Parade of Homes and Developments. Eighteen quality homes will be showcased during this stellar event which runs from June 20-28th. Advanced sale tickets are again $8 and will be available at a number of outlets throughout the region as well as at the HBA office. The tickets and plan books should be available around June 10th. Please check out the website for the most up-to-date information about the Parade of Homes & Developments.
Also, I encourage you to join us June 5th for our annual Golf Outing. The event is a special opportunity to network with business associates and make new acquaintances as well as enhance your business. The pig roast following the scramble is going to be a great deal of fun this year and something you won't want to miss. If you haven't already done so, please make your reservations before the holiday weekend for the best rates. We're looking forward to seeing you in the coming weeks. Together we are building a stronger association and a brighter future,

Kathy

BUILDERS USE NAHB ECONOMIC DATA TO GAUGE MARKET DEMAND |
At a time when it is particularly difficult to read the housing marketplace and make confident predictions about where it is headed in the period ahead, NAHB members can access a wealth of economic materials that provide insights into the various factors that are expected to slowly put residential sales and construction activity on an upward path.
Information from economists at NAHB provides reliable forecasts on interest rates, unemployment and economic growth as well as demographic data that builders can use to gauge housing demand and prepare their business plans. Also, statistics on the economic impact of housing and the benefits of homeownership can be used to muster support for home building in the community and increase demand among prospective home buyers.

HOMES FOR LIFE AWARD |
Awards Program Description and Benefits of Entering:
With the concept of aging in place growing at a rapid pace, the NAHB Remodelers want to further recognize our CAPS designees for their contributions to the industry and capitalize on the momentum of the media push on the topic. The new Homes for Life Award will help the designation gain more visibility as well as create more interest in the NAHB Remodelers and NAHB as a whole.
These awards recognize CAPS designees for excellence in aging in place design and/or accessible home modifications in a remodeled home. These homes will offer specific design or programmatic solutions that aid the individual resident(s) to continue living in the house as they grow older and/or face physical challenges. This award aims to exemplify specific design details, features and concepts specific to aging in place and accessible designs rather than the entire residence. The entrant will submit a series of before and after images displaying the aging in place/accessible aspects of the remodel, as well as a before and after floor plan, and a written summary answering questions based upon the designs implemented.
