Greetings! ,
Congratulations to our newest HBAGTA Board Member, Bill Packer (Packer Builders, Inc.). Bill was elected to a three year builder position on our Board of Directors at last night's General Membership Meeting. Thank you to all who participated in the election process. A special thanks to Terry Harper (Harper Custom Homes) and Richard Baldwin (Baldwin Homes, Inc.) for stepping up to the plate as candidates for the Board position as well. Our members were able to choose from a very talented and respected group of builders for the open position vacated by Roger Papineau.
Your business may have recently received a letter from the Association office that addresses questions or issues regarding your license. We appreciate the follow up that we have been receiving. The office staff is following a policy that was recently approved by the Board of Directors which specifically addresses guidelines for member businesses who are not fully compliant with the State of Michigan licensing laws. We appreciate your patience and support.
The GS4 (Green Solution 4 EXPO) will be held on October 25 at the Hagerty Center located at the NMC Great Lakes Campus. This event, produced in partnership of the Traverse Area Association of REALTORS® and the HBAGTA, is designed to showcase green or sustainable resources in our community. If you are a business that would like to promote a green service or product, consider participating as a vendor at this event. If you are not able to participate as a vendor, help us spread the word to the community by displaying the GS4 posters and signs. GS4 posters and signs are available at our office. Please contact us at (231) 946-2305 to make arrangements to get a supply - or email us at mailbox@hbagta.com.
Finally, thank you to all who attended the General Membership Meeting at the Traverse City Golf and Country Club last night. What a great meeting! You could feel the positive attitude in the air as the meeting was breaking up. Thanks to everyone for your input and support in helping to make our Association a leader in our state!
Please note that the November General Membership Meeting will be a Networking event at Floor Covering Brokers.
As always, we are building a stronger association!

MYTH BUSTER RESOURCES GIVE YOU THE POWER TO CHANGE PERCEPTIONS
|
|
If there's one thing we have learned during the past year, it's that the media will jump onto just about every bandwagon that rolls past. If starts or other housing indicators are down nationally, it's a safe bet that the local news media will assume they are also down locally. Unfortunately, the resulting coverage doesn't reflect local market conditions, and tends to be alarmist and misleading.
Potential home buyers get nervous, and decide not to buy or to try to 'time the market' to get a lower price. That's how the 'myth' of a downturn can become self-perpetuating and have a negative impact on a local market that was doing just fine.
The National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) is doing everything it can to help members and associations during this challenging market. They are collaborating with industry organizations and the government to reverse the housing downturn, working with the national media to combat negative coverage, and have produced a supply of resources to help members reach out to hesitant buyers and sell homes.
MYTH BUSTER
Myth Buster Resources is a special online section at www.nahb.org/mythbuster, accessible only to NAHB members and affiliated home builder associations. The information and materials are for use in local public relations, marketing and media campaigns. It is geared towards reassuring consumers and combating misleading media reports.
To help you reach out to consumers, you'll find Q&As addressing common consumer concerns, and customizable print and television advertisements. There are also articles and flyers that are ready to print and use at home shows, sales offices or open houses.

THE OPTIMIST CREED
|
|
|
|
Promise Yourself-
To be so strong that nothing can disturb your peace of mind. To talk health, happiness and prosperity to every person you meet. To make all your friends feel that there is something in them. To look at the sunny side of everything and make your optimism come true. To think only of the best, to work only for the best, and to expect only the best. To be just as enthusiastic about the success of others as you are about your own. To forget the mistakes of the past and press on to the greater achievements of the future. To wear a cheerful countenance at all times and give every living creature you meet a smile. To give so much time to the improvement of yourself that you have no time to criticize others. To be too large for worry, too noble for anger, too strong for fear, and too happy to permit the presence of trouble.
