Sunday of the Passion
Palm Sunday
This Sunday, we celebrate Jesus' triumphant entry into Jerusalem and solemnly remember his Passion. There will be a procession with palm branches led by a real donkey and a reading of the last meal, arrest, trial and crucifixion of our Lord and Savior during church.
On this very important day, we will enjoy a middle-eastern feast prepared by our own Salem family. And this year, a delightful addition to this happy event: Adele Colvin signs her Donkey Tale books. The Donkeys' Tales, The Donkey's Easter Tale and The Donkey of Tarsus will be on sale. These three books are a marvelous teaching resource for the church. The illustrations are plentiful and engaging. The text is profoundly Biblical and simply told. A donkey sees Jesus' birth, his journey to the cross and resurrection, and the mission of Saint Paul through eyes very like the innocent eyes of a child. We are very blessed to claim the creator of these charming books, Adele Colvin, as a member of Saint Luke's. |
How Do Christians Think?
This sermon was preached by the Rev. Richmond Webster on Sunday, March 14, 2010 and is
based on 2 Corinthians 5:16-21.
"If anyone is in Christ, there is a new creation; everything old has passed away; see, everything has become new!"
How do Christians think? More specifically, how does being a Christian change not only what we believe about God or Jesus or heaven, but also how we see the world around us? How does being a Christian help us make decisions?

Saint Luke's Offers Grief Support Group
The burden of coping with grief and loss can at times be overwhelming and debilitating. Healing can begin within a caring and supportive group where each participant is encouraged to share his/her journey with others. Once again we are offering a six-week support group experience for interested adults who may be struggling with an experience of loss. The group will be facilitated by the Rev. Steve DeGweck and Betsy Smith and will meet for six consecutive Monday evenings beginning April 12 at 7:00 pm in the Tilson Room. The group will focus on a different theme or aspect of the grief experience each week. Members will be encouraged (not required) to share their experiences and insights within a safe, supportive, and prayerful fellowship. We will require a minimum of five participants in order to offer the group, and registration will be capped at twelve persons. Non-Saint Luke's members may attend on a space-available basis. Registration for Saint Luke's members only will be taken until April 1. After that date, any remaining spaces in the group will be offered on a first-come, first-served basis. To register, or simply to know more about the group, call Steve (802-6203) or send him an e-mail at sdegweck@saint-lukes.com. |

ECW First Monday will meet SECOND Monday in April due to the Easter schedule. All women are invited to join us!
11:30: Parishioner Meg Presley will talk about her volunteer work with Marion Medical Mission, a small, non-profit, ecumenical organization that works hand-in-hand with African villagers to bring clean, safe and sustainable sources of drinking water.
Luncheon will follow the program. Childcare is provided. | Will Your Suitcase Be Overflowing When You Return From Spring Break?
When you unpack from vacation, remember to donate your unused toiletry samples to the Grace/Woodlawn Food Bank. Bring those little shampoo bottles, soaps, toothpaste, etc. to the church and place them in the box in the Commons marked "Grace Woodlawn Food Bank." Please make sure these items are not used and are unopened. Your little donation of something small has made a huge difference in the lives of many and for Grace/Woodlawn who directly serves many in need. In fact, the Food Bank has not had to budget monies for toiletries because of your generous donations!! Thank you! |
