| March 2011 Club Season Ramps Up! |
Greetings Vipers,
 | | 15 Elite wins Division 1! |
The 2010-2011 Club season is underway and we would like to congratulate all our teams on a great start. There are so many highlights throughout our club, most notably though, is the tremendous enthusiasm at the gym during practices (even when it was fridged!). The club volleyball season takes up a better part of the year, but the improvement our players and teams have made already is tremendous. Keep up the good work!
Over the next month, all of our Elite teams will be heading to Junior National Qualifying tournaments in an effort to qualify for USA Volleyball's Junior Nationals held in Atlanta, Georgia in late June. We would like to wish all those teams good luck!
We have had some great successes in our club so far this season. Here are a few: - MOST of our teams have already won a tournament and/or pool this season: 18-Brian, 17-Aaron, 16-Dana, 16-Tracy, 16-Sue, 16-Aaron, 16-Alli, 15-Mary Jo, 15-Steve, 15-Pat, 15-Mark, 14-Merilee, 14-Mark, 12-Kat, 12-Amber, 12-Emily - 15 Elite WON Division 1 - that's right, they finished 1st in all of Southern California! And this was after winning Division 2 two weeks before. They finished 2nd at their last Division 1 tournament. Way to go! - 12 Elite finished tied for 1st, 2nd & 3rd in Division 1 (the tie for 1st was due to a power outage!) - 16 Elite finished tied for 3rd in Division 1 - Viper had 3 teams start in Division 1 after qualifying tournaments: 12-Elite, 14-Elite and 16-Elite - 18 Elite finished 2nd at the 951 Friendship Tournament - 12 Donna is only the 2nd 12-2 team to be in the Gold Division in Viper History - Both of Steve Jone's Elite Teams (14-2 & 15-2) started in Division 2 As we head into the summer, and you begin to make plans for summer camps, be sure to check out Viper's camps. We host a variety of camps for beginning to elite players. We are also hosting a Beach Training Camp this summer!
Keep up all the great work Vipers!
See you on the court,
Dana Burkholder Club Director

Congratulations to our Viper Seniors who have signed to play in college!
Kym Silveyra committed to Cal State Los Angeles in early February. Kym has played for Viper for 8 years and has been on numerous elite teams throughout her career. She is currently an outside hitter on 18-Elite Brian and has played outside for the past three season. Congratulations to Kym and her family.
Ashlee Amatulli committed to Rider University in early March. Ashlee has played for Viper for 9 years and has played many different positions in her tenure. For the past three seasons she has set primarily for the 17-1 and 18-1 Elite teams. Congratulations to Ashlee and her family.
Alexis Hein committed to the University of Little Rock Arkansas in early March. Lexi joined Viper as a sophomore when she played for Dana's 16-Elite team in just her second year of volleyball. She came to Viper with mostly middle experience but moved the rightside and then to the outside. She is currently a starting outside for 18-Elite Brian. Congratulations to Lexi and her family! Rocky Ortiz just committed last week to Missouri Southern State University! Rocky has been a standout libero at Viper for many years and has been on the 18-1s since she was a freshman. She has played for almost every coach at Viper and has learned many different techniques and styles of play throughout her career. Congrats to Rocky and her family! Elizabeth Culhane just committed at the Anaheim JNQ to Yavapai Junior College in Prescott, Arizona! Liz went on a visit there in March and felt like it was the right school that was close to home and could her her develop her game and play at the next level. Liz has been an Elite player for Viper for many years and we are so happy for her and her family! Congrats!!!

Congratulations to Amanda Pedersen
Amanda Pedersen-Henry was recently selected to be on the SCVA High Performance Team. She was placed as a middle blocker on the Select (Top) team after trying out in March. Amanda is currently an 8th grader but is playing up with mostly freshman on the 15-Elite team (Julia Cubbedge is the other 8th grader). Amanda has proven herself to be a great learner this season as has improved tremendously from the beginning of the year. She is a starting middle blocker for the 15-1 team and was an instrumental part of the 15-Elite team winning Division 1 with her blocking and attacking. Keep up the good work Amanda! |
