Player Spotlight Cadie Bates
One year ago, Cadie had just finished her first year of club and wasn't sure if she wanted to keep playing volleyball. After playing soccer for over 5 years, she felt that volleyball might not be her sport. Well, one year later she can't get enough volleyball and has quit soccer. She has improved so much this past year, that as a freshman, she just made the Varsity team at Great Oak High School. Cadie is a terrific competitor and a hard worker. She comes to practice ready to learn and sweat, and most importantly, get better every contact. Cadie is the kind of player that wants to make the right play, and the big play, for her team. On the court, Cadie also demonstrates great sportsmanship and teammanship with her peers. She is very encouraging and uplifting to those around her and you can see that she inspires others to play their best. Cadie was a starting middle blocker for the 14-Elite team that went to Junior Nationals and finished 11th. We are excited to see Cadie grow as a person and to continue to develop into a great volleyball player. Keep up the good work Cadie! |
Inspiration Basketball Legend, John Wooden, inspired all athletes and coaches
"Never try to be better than someone else. Always learn from others. Never cease trying to be the best you can be." - John Wooden - John Wooden (1910-2010) is a difficult man to describe in a short amount of time. After all, he won 10 National Championships and a true master always requires study to understand completely. At Viper, we utilize many of Wooden's key concepts to help us steer our young players toward a terrific experience of sportsmanship. There truly is nothing better than achieving a common goal with a team of people you have spent so much time with and given so much to. Wooden always talked about love and respect and building
others up, especially opponents. What he never talked about was winning. Our goal at Viper is to help all kids become great learners and champions of spirit so that they can achieve greatness far beyond winning and losing. Thanks to John Wooden for the many treasures he gave, and the inspiration to learn and share the game of life and volleyball. |
