We would like to CONGRATULATE our 13 Elite team for getting and accepting a bid to JO's in Miami! Some of our other teams got bids as well but turned them down for various reasons. That means the majority of our teams will be in Phoenix and it is going to be awesome to have so many kids and families supporting each other! Fore more info, please see the section below on end of the year tournaments.

We would like to CONGRATULATE our 16-Paul team for winning 4 tournaments in a row! We're not sure if ANY team has every won 4 tournaments in a row, but this team has done a terrific job this year and has really showed the commitment it takes to be great week-in and week-out. We would also like to CONGRATULATE our 12-Merijo/Tommy team for winning 3 tournaments in a row! This team is total inspiration. They compete like crazy, have a TON of fun and keep on winning! Good job girls!!!

School is almost out, season is almost over and we look forward to a great finish and more fun volleyball. Our coaches are making more time in practice to play and compete so bring your "A" game and get competitive!  Many of our coaches are also running practices on local sand courts to increase endurance and strength before our big week-long championships! As they say, it's all about the training!

Our Summer Camp information has been posted and we look forward to a great summer learning how to get even better at volleyball before the upcoming school season. Our camps will be challenging, fun and give you the opportunity to focus on specific areas of improvement. See more below...

Good luck with your final exams and good luck to our seniors who will be graduating very shortly.

See you in the gym,

Dana, Rochelle and Ed

NEW
College Commitment!
Congratulations to Ayana Whitaker who commited to
Cal State Fullerton!

mensIn  Ayana's words...

1. Why did you choose Fullerton? I chose Fullerton because it was the best school that met both mine and my families needs. It's in the area I most wanted to live and its also close enough to home where I can visit if I want, yet far enough that I can still feel like I've actually gotten some freedom. On top of that, the team and coaches are amazing and friendly people that I can definitely see mysef spending 4 years with. The school itself is great and I love everything about it.

2. What are you most excited about? Fullerton has a great Christian campus ministry that is close with my families church in Temecula. Also, the girls on the team are very nice and make me excited to be a Titan!

From Coach Dana - "Ayana is just beginning to see her potential as a volleyball player. She has come a long way this year toward reaching her goal of getting a full-ride scholarship to a D1 school. We are really proud of her increased commitment and dedication that has paid off. The coaches at Cal State Fullerton recognize her athleticism and height and see that she can be a big player for their program. Good luck Ayana!"

Vipers Meet Kerry Walsh!
 Viper Logo
Kerry Walsh is pretty cool. After all she's the Queen of the Beach and she has 2 Olympic Gold medals with her partner Misty May. This year she started her own stylish clothing line called KActive and has been promoting it at the club tournaments this spring. Many of our players got to meet Kerry and get her autograph. Here were some of the things they said:

"She's so cool!"
"She's so tall!"
"She's sooo sweet!"

As you can see... our girls were star struck and were really happy to meet the Queen of the Beach!
On the Horizon...
Junior Olympics, Volleyball Festival
& the Inland Valley Championships

usavCongratulations to our 13-Elite team for getting a bid to JO's! They have had a terrific season, and are really excited to represent Temecula Volleyball Club in MIami. If you'd like to help them raise funds for the trip, they are selling raffle tickets at the gym. Good luck girls!

All of our remaining Elite & Travel teams will be attending The Volleyball Festival and our Regional and Local teams will have an Inland Valley Championship at Rancho Sports Center.

Volleyba
ll Festival
The 2009 Volleyball Festival will be held at the Phoenix Convention Center in Phoenix, Arizona. Our teams going to fes
tival will be staying at the luxury Sherton in downtwon Phoenix.

This hotel is walking distance from the Convention Center as well as many restaurants and shops.  All players, coaches and chaperon's will have all their accommodations and meals taken care of.  Any parents who wish to stay with the team may make their reservations through The Festival website www.volleyball-festival.com or may choose to stay at any other hotel of their choice. Please note that additional rooms may also be available at The Sheraton at a less expensive price.  Feel free to book at the most competitive price you can get, regardless as to whether or not it is through the Volleyball Festival.
Hilton Suites in Phoenix. If families want to stay at the same hotel, they need to go to the festival web site, click on housing, then click on individual housing and fill out the form. I know this is a pain but this is how they are doing things. The hotel may already be sold out as of this email.

Inland Valley Championship
For our remaining regional and local teams, you will be participating in the Inland Valley Championships at Rancho Sports Center on June 20, 2009. We know that parents and kids want additional training before school tryouts in the fall and this gives our kids a big competitive end of the year tournament to work towards. There is NO additional fee for this tournament for our teams and players, nor will there be any need for a hotel. There will be a 12s, 14s and 16s Division Champion. Play begins at 8am on June 20, 2009 at Rancho Sports Center.

These tournaments will mark the end of practice and play for this years club season. It has been a really terrific season so far and we are looking forward to a Big Bang Finish for all our teams.

Inspirational Quotes...

From Helen Keller: HelenKeller

- Life is a succession of lessons which must be lived to be understood. (dana note: life as classroom :)

- I am only one, but still I am one. I cannot do everything, but still I can do something. And because I cannot do everything I will not refuse to do the something that I can do.

- Optimism is the faith that leads to achievement. Nothing can be done without hope and confidence.

- What I am looking for is not out there, it is in me.

- Helen Keller was a really fascinating and courageous woman. She was born in Tuscumbia, Alabama on June 27, 1880. At the age of 19 months, she lost her sight and hearing as a result of meningitis. With the help of her teacher, Anne Sullivan, she became the first blind-deaf person to effectively communicate with the sighted and hearing world. In so doing, she became an international celebrity from the age of eight, even before the era of mass communications. Her pilgrimage from Tuscumbia to worldwide recognition, is an inspiring story which took her from silence and darkness to a life of vision and advocacy. To read more... click here

"I've missed more than 9000 shots in my career. I've lost almost 300 games. 26 times I've been trusted to take the game winning shot... and missed. I've failed over and over again in my life, and that is why I succeed." - Michael Jordan

Temecula Volleyball Club's lost and found is in Coach Dana Burkholder's office. If you have lost anything, it is most likely there. Please ask Dana or Rochelle for help at the gym if you think you've lost something. Items are only kept for 1 month unless they are a Viper issued.

If you find something, please leave it at the top of the stairs in front of Dana's door so she can add it to the growing pile!

Keep it Clean - Trash & Recycle Recycle photos

Coaches, players and parents please help us to keep our great facility clean & environmentally friendly. We encourage you to take HOME all your plastic bottles to ensure they get recycled. Do not leave them at Rancho unless a recycling team collects them from you at practice.

We have had a problem with a lot of trash the past few weeks and would like to remind you to check your area for any trash. Even if it's not yours, pick it up and throw in a nearby bin.

Let's all MAKE A DIFFERENCE!
