Message From the DirectorsUSA JOS

Greetings!

As Spring arrives and March Madness begins, we'd like to congratulate all our teams that went to Las Vegas and had a really terrific showing. We would also like to applaud all our teams who have finished their qualifying in SCVA and are now in Mandatory competition. We have teams spread throughout the age groups and divisions and are really excited to get the competition under way.

team photoMany of our teams are entered in Junior National Qualifying tournaments this March and April, and to show our support we are going to host a "Viper Night" where some of our top teams compete along with the coaches. "Viper Night" will be fun for the whole club as some of our younger players will get to see our older players, and coaches, in action. We invite parents to watch as well. "Viper Night" will take place March 18th from 5:00-7:00pm. We are going to use this as a fundraising night for our teams too, so if you want to sell anything or think of something fun, go for it! Please run it by Dana or Rochell first though!

Fundraising photo

As you know, many of our teams are doing fundraisers and we wanted to thank everyone for all their hard work and support. We feel our "family and friends" environ ment is one of our strengths at Viper and it's incredible to see the support we have for each other. Many weekends, we see kids and parents from other teams supporting other teams even when their not playing at Rancho. Thanks and keep up the good work!

See you on the court,

Ed, Rochelle & Dana

Lost 'n' Found
Lost & Found photo
Temecula Volleyball Club's lost and found is in Coach Dana Burkholder's office. If you have lost anything, it is most likely there. Please ask Dana or Rochelle for help at the gym if you think you've lost something.

If you find something, please leave it at the top of the stairs in front of Dana's door so she can add it to the growing pile!

Put your NAME on it!

To keep from losing your Viper clothes and gear, please put YOUR NAME on all you gear!

Keep it Clean - Trash & Recycle Recycle photos

Coaches, players and parents please help us to keep our great facility clean & environmentally friendly. We encourage you to take HOME all your plastic bottles to ensure they get recycled. Do not leave them at Rancho unless a recycling team collects them from you at practice.

We have had a problem with a lot of trash the past few weeks and would like to remind you to check your area for any trash. Even if it's not yours, pick it up and throw in a nearby bin.

Let's all MAKE A DIFFERENCE!
College Commitments

Congratulations to Tanya Ugaitafa who is going to Arizona Western!

In Tanya's words:
Tanya PhotoI am really excited to play at Arizona Western. The coaches are great, it's not too far from home and they provide great academic support to help me have a good college experience.

The Head Coach at Arizona Western said, "We are really excited to get a player of Tanya's caliber. She is a versatile athlete who will fit in well with our system of play. we expect that she will be an integral part of our offense next season."

From Coach Dana:
Tanya is a great kid with a big personality. She is fun to be around and her enthusiasm for volleyball and life is contagious. On the court, Tanya has more than just great dance moves, she is a powerful attacker and a very quick defender in the back court. One of my favorite things about Tanya is her consistency and winning attitude. No matter what the circumstances, she goes hard, competes and does her best. Congrats Tanya!

Congratulations to Lexi Campbell who is going to Dartmouth!

In Lexi's words:
I chose Dartmouth primarily for its academics; my main goal was to find a school that would continue to challenge me throughout college.  Also Dartmouth gave me the chance to continue to play volleyball in a very competitive environment, which I couldn't be more excited about.

I love volleyball becuase of its quickness and how players are in constant motion.  The sport forces you to become so focused that you lose yourself in the game, and are only able to think about the next point and the team.  I also love the pace of the game, it has helped me grow into an adult in that I have to control my emotions in each play.  Volleyball has been a part of my life since I was thirteen, and I really can't imagine my life without it.

From Coach Dana:
Lexi is a terrific person and a courageous player. She really understands what it takes to be a great competitor and really brings her focus and work ethic to every practice. Not only does she work hard physically, but mentally she challenges herself to be a great leader, improve her communication and be confident when the game is on the line. Like all focused athletes, Lexi is learning how to balance fighting for it and letting it flow more. Lexi has made great strides in her court presence and play over a short period of time simply because she's more relaxed, having more fun and being more aggressive. Sometimes you just gotta go for it! Congrats Lexi!
Volleyball Festival

It's official, the 2009 Volleyball Festival will be held at the Phoenix Convention Center in Phoenix, Arizona. Though we enjoyed going to Reno for the Festival, we are looking forward to a change and Phoenix is a great city with an easy downtown that will make transportation much easier for our teams.

Inspirational Quote

All of the top achievers I know are life-long learners. Looking for new skills, insights, and ideas. If they're not learning, they're not growing... not moving toward excellence.
