UPDATES FROM YOUR PTO BOARD
Hello Parents!
What a great first 6 weeks we have had. The PTO accepted over $18,000 during the annual Sponsorship Drive. Our Directory Committee is hard at work obtaining advertisers for not only the directory but also our website and newsletters. Our Fundraising Committee has been busy collecting orders for our Fall Fundraiser with Innisbrook Gift Wrap and Entertainment Book 2012 sales. And, Spirit Night is right around the corner! Thank you for your continued efforts to support your PTO!
With that, we desperately need to fill 4 Committee Chair positions for this school year. Leaders are needed for the Publishing Center, Public Relations, Grocery Partners, and Volunteer Coordination. If you have any interest please do not hesitate to contact your Board of Directors by emailing us at lagunapto@lagunapto.org.
Our next PTO Open Meeting will be Wednesday, October 5th at 2:00 p.m. in the PTO Room (room 406). Hope to see you there! Remember, all PTO meeting minutes are posted on our website, PTO website at www.lagunapto.org under PTO Business.
Thanks so much!
Hillary Mackowski
Laguna Elementary PTO President 2010-2012

We need your help to make this program successful.
If you're interested in becoming a "Secret Parent", please contact Karla Caryl at kbcaryl@msn.com or Maureen Aldrich at moaldrich@cox.net.

NOTES FROM THE PRINCIPAL
Parents,
Do you know what to do if you are on campus during an emergency? Do you know what to do if you are at work and the school needs to be evacuated? Please come to an important informational evening on Laguna's Emergency Response Plan presented by SUSD's Chief Security Officer and myself on Wednesday, October 5th, 6:00 - 7:00 p.m., Laguna Cafeteria. Due to the nature of the information it is recommended that children not attend this PARENT meeting.
We recognize there have been many road blocks with accessing or registering for SchoolFusion. SUSD IT engineers are working diligently to overcome these challenges. However, we need YOU to persevere as we need every parent registered on SchoolFusion. Please call SUSD's technical assistance line at 480-484-HELP (4357) if you are encountering any difficulties. They are happy to help you!
Finally, School Resource Officers (SRO) Dan Antrim and Fred Pera will be conducting an Internet Safety Parent Meeting for our DMHS Community (elementary school parents only) on Tuesday, October 18th from 6:00 p.m. - 7:30 p.m. at Anasazi Elementary School. More information coming soon.
If you have any questions on any of the above, please do not hesitate to contact me.
Sincerely,
Dr. Katie Root
