Fry's "COOL CA$H"runs September 1, through April 21, 2012.
8
SCAN and LINK your Fry's V.I.P. card with the Fry's COOL CA$H program barcode below and earn CASH for Laguna! Last year, Fry's donated $500 to Laguna PTO. Thank you to all the families that participated and to Fry's for supporting Laguna PTO.
We really hope to have more families participate this year. Laguna can earn up to $2,000 if you take a minute to link your V.I.P. card or alternate ID (phone number associated with your card) to our program bar code.

You only need to do this once and your registered for the remainder of the program year. Look for the words COOL CA$H at the bottom of your receipt to make sure you are registered!

PRINCIPAL'S LETTER
Dear Parents,
It was great to see the high turnout for Laguna's Back-to-School Night last week. On that evening I explained the importance of registering for SchoolFusion as this would be a main forum for communication for us. I appreciate the support you showed by attempting to register and access SchoolFusion right away. Unfortunately, the program was not being as cooperative as you! SUSD has been experiencing a high volume of technical difficulty with SchoolFusion over the last few weeks. Some families are having trouble registering and others are having difficulty accessing the site. SUSD is aware of the problem and working with the SchoolFusion engineers to correct the problem. If you are having difficulties you may call 480-484-HELP, which is the SUSD technology hotline, where you can report your issue and have people available to assist you. In the meantime, until the problem is corrected, we will be sending our newsletter home through email. I thank you for your patience and request that you continue to follow through with the registration process as soon as you are able to do so.
Sincerely,
Dr. Root

LAGUNA CAFE'
We at Laguna Café are looking forward to serving your students well-balanced and nutritional meals. Along with daily entrée's, we will be serving a variety of fresh fruits and vegetables with the choice of milk or juice.
Breakfast is served every morning from 8:00 a.m. to 8:40 a.m. at a cost of $1.25. The cost of lunch is $2.25 per day. We also sell cereal bars, baked chips, ice cream, bottled water and Capri Sun drinks at an additional cost of $.50 cents to $1.00. If you choose not to let your student buy any extras, please notify the kitchen manager so we can make a note on the students account.
If the amount of money in your student's lunch account runs low, we will put a red apple stamp on the back of their hand or wrist. This is a reminder for you to add money to your student's account. If your student's account falls into the negative balance, the school district has allowed us to sell 3 lunches to your student on credit. If there is still a negative balance after the 3 lunches, your student will receive a sack lunch that consist of 2 slices of bread, 3 slices of American cheese and a carton of apple juice at no charge.
Laguna Elementary is a peanut free school. All food items served in the cafeteria are free of peanuts or any peanut by-products. If your student brings lunch from home, please ask them to be aware of other students that may have food allergies.
The cafeteria staff truly enjoys serving meals to all the students at Laguna and their families. If you should have any questions or concerns please call 480-484-2408. Kitchen hours are 6:30 a.m. - 2:30 p.m. every school day.
Thank you,
Leann Bissett, Cafeteria Food Service Manager

NOTES FROM THE HEALTH OFFICE
Health Screening: Vision and hearing testing will take place Wednesday, September 28th, 9:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. for 1st through 5th grades and Thursday, September 29th, 9:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. for Kindergarten. Training for screening volunteers will take place on Thursday, September 22nd at 9:00 a.m. in the Health Office. Please contact me if you have questions or wish your child to opt out of the screening. Many volunteers are needed - please contact me if you are interested in helping!
If your child has a medical condition, please stop by my office or call me to discuss school care. All medications given at school need to be provided by parents. If you would like to have pain/fever medication, cough drops, or other medication available to your child, you must bring a supply to the health office in their sealed, original packaging and a medication form must be completed.
Also, please inform me if your child has a communicable disease or health issue including, but not limited to, strep throat, lice, chicken pox, and pinkeye. I track these issues on an annual basis.
Student accident and health insurance is available to all SUSD students. You can enroll online at www.studentinsurance-kk.com. If you are interested, I also have a flier available in the main office and the health office.
If you are cleaning out closets and getting rid of old clothes please keep the Health Office in mind. I'm always in need of small shorts for kids who have spills and accidents. Size 6 and 8 elastic waist athletic shorts work best. If you are able to donate, other needed supplies for the health office are: new underwear size 6, new small socks, 100% juice box drinks, and small water bottles.
