Linnton Photovoice Project
Get a glimpse of Linnton through the eyes of the people who live there. As part of the Linnton Action Model, residents took part in a PhotoVoice project - a participatory grassroots tool that incorporates photography and social action. Residents of all ages were given the opportunity to take photos and write stories about issues that affect their community.
The Portland neighborhood of Linnton borders the Portland Harbor Superfund site, is relatively isolated from the rest of Portland, and has been impacted by industrial development and the expansion of Highway 30. The PhotoVoice project reveals both residents' concerns and their commitment to community revitalization efforts as they address local social, economic, and environmental issues, as well as matters of accessibility, health and safety.
The project will be on display September 15th at the historical former Linnton Plywood Mill site. For more information, contact Dawn Hanson, Oregon Health Authority. This project was organized by Linnton residents; the Oregon Health Authority; Gunderson, LLC; and the Linnton Neighborhood Association.
Date: Thursday, September 15, 2011
Time: 5:30 p.m. - 9:30 p.m.
Place: Linnton Plywood Mill Site, 10504 NW St Helens Rd (Behind the Linnton Community Center)

Save the date and download a flyer to post in your building or place of business. Everyone is invited to attend.

Cornell Road Sustainability Planning
Are you concerned with the impacts caused by excessive commuter traffic along the Cornell Corridor as it passes through Forest Park? If so, come join the planning efforts of the Cornell Road Sustainability Coalition (CRSC). We are working to define, recommend and implement a strategy to remedy the negative effects generated by the substantial and increasing use of NW Cornell Road as an alternate to U.S. Route 26 (Sunset Highway).
Rather than simply creating limitations on commuter traffic, our advocates strive to find an inclusive solution that benefits all stakeholders and can be used as a model for future sustainable
planning methods. Find more information online at the NWNW website, or contact Peter Stark, 503 274-4111.
Date: Tuesday, September 26, 2011
Time: 6:00-7:30 PM
Place: The Audubon Society of Portland, 5151 NW Cornell Road

Fall Leaf Removal Update
Falling leaves may seem far away, but if you live in a leaf collection zone, it's not too early to start thinking ahead. Between November and mid-December the city removes leaves in designated areas for pedestrian, bike and car safety, and to prevent flooding caused by clogged drains.
In 2010, the Portland Bureau of Transportation started collecting a fee for this service. Fees will still apply this year, but you can look forward to improved service and better communication tools. Check PBOT's leaf removal website for news and updates. This year you will be able to pay or opt out of the service online. Check back to determine if you are in a leaf service zone and when your leaf day pick up is scheduled - zone boundaries have changed. Send any questions to leafday@portlandoregon.gov.
